Hey guys - im back
After 2 or 3 months away from the hobby the coming of the school holidays and my birthday sound like a great time to start the hobby again and create my own Ogre tribe.
Im going to purchase my first $50 box in a weeks time and aunt sure whenever to get a Tyrant, Bulls or Ironguts. My plan was to get a Tyrant and then get the battleforce - giving me a good sized force but im not sure I can paint the Ogre Tyrant/Bruiser at a good standard at the moment and kinda think it'de be wise practasing on the other ogre models, what do you think??
Secondly I painted a High Elf Chariot yesterday to brush up my skills but the paints were almost two watery and it ended up clogging detail how do you guys measure your paint and water ratio?
Lastly anyone know any good basing techniques I could use for Ogres?? I was thinking of giving them really rocky bases, but where do i get the rocks/slate just out of the garden???
well i'd recommend buying the battalion box first and start painting 3 bulls to get the hang of things. If you've used greenstuff before it should be easy to make a butcher and tyrant out of that box aswell, should end up with about 3 bulls, 2 butchers, tyrant/bruiser, 4 ironguts and some leadbelchers. Some people could probably get even more out of it. I personally only just a drop of water, i usually tilt a glass and just use my finger to drip over a drop then i mix that in and see how it goes. If it's still too dry i add another.
Yup, id buy the battalion first.
and another thing. if your not confident to paint your tyrant, leave him till last. so once youve got up to him, youll have plenty of experience.
and i just thought id add.
i just PM'd you just then. so consider this an add on to it.
I was talking abot tribes that look cool and unified.
Well the tribe 'moonbiters' are yellow. and i didnt think to tell you that i painted my GD tyrant that scheme (yellow) and if you like (if you happen to shoose that sheme) i can step-by-step yoiu through hoe i did him so you can make a 'replica'sort of a thing.
here's a reminder of what he looks like:
I know the thought of a "yellow ogre army'isnt all that cool sounding, but it really depends on the shade of yellow that you use, so keep that in mnd.

Interesting how did you paint the gut plate?
