'Lo all. I was just checking the the rulebook and noticed that Butchers aren't restricted to arcane items, as evidenced by many tales I hear of them and Siegebreakers, hee.
But whilst I was contemplating what they need, I remembered that a key problem I had with Butchers was the range on my spells - spamming cheap little gut magic spells is a bit pointless when you can only pimp up a unit so much. So I was thinking..
Mastodon armour, plonk him behind the main lines and let him follow the rest, casting frequently whatever could be useful?
That would be an awesome idea, but there is one small problem, specifically that a wizard can't wear armour and cast spells unless otherwise stated (WoC, for example). Cool idea though.
Oh my, that would work so well...if it weren't for the fact the Wizards can't wear enchanted armour if they can't wear mundane armour. I almost started to write a list with a T6 Savage Orc Great Shaman on Wyvern for O&G thinking they can wear armour.
Armies: (Chaos) Space Marines [1250pts], O&G [2250 pts], OK [1000pts]
Da face of Mork looks down on the Gobbers of da Bwoo Moon, da bestest Gobbos eva.
Right, just out of curiosity - where does it actually state that wizards cannot wear armour and cast spells? I know that usually it's a restriction listed in the army selection section of of the books, like the Beasts of Chaos book, but it just says 'May take common or magic items from the magic item list' in the butcher's section. I've never seen the restriction on Wizards and armour anywhere in the OK book - is it in the Main rulebook? If so, where?
Don't have a specific page reference now, as I'm using school internet, but iirc it's in the section about magic armour in the BRB. If someone wants to post a reference before I get home, go ahead.
