Ok, so I want to run a 2250 ogres list without any butchers. But, I will have gnoblar theifstones scattered about for magic defense. Would this work?
It will be fine against opponents with low or only offesnsive magic which targets your units, but against things with alot of magic or magic like vampires where they cast on thier own troops you will find a lack of dispel scrolls and dice a big problem. in fact nearly all the vampire magic is cast upon themselves.
Your missing a trick with gut magic. It may not appear as falshy as other magic but the ability to give units regen or increased toughness etc is a real winner, even if you just take along 1. Theres nothing stopping you kitting it out for combat as it is.
Its not neccesary at all. In most cases you will never get a single spell off due to others having way to many DD. I play with out any except with a butcher with hell heart to end a turn of magic.
