I've always liked the character and model of skrag the slaughter and I'm interested in building an army around him and his gorger friends however I've no idea where to start, anybody got any experience and information about this army build?
Come see my Necrons, Space Marines, Dwarfs, Orks, Goblins and anything else I feel like painting at my blog: http://modelminiaturepainting.blogspot.com/
I've been mulling over the same idea, as a very fluffy army. I highly doubt it would work in any competitive scene, but it would be very fun in a friendly scene, at least I think so.
I reckon rolling Skrag as the general (obviously), with two groups of ogres, one on each side of Skrag, protecting his flanks. Could be 7 or 11 groups, with a butcher in each, making those groups 8 or 12 respectively. That should be enough to cover core points, depending on point size. I was looking at 3k, but that's because that's what I normally play. Everything that can have additional hand weapons, does so. I would like the butchers to have different lores, one being Death and the other Beasts, but I haven't yet figured how that would work into the army fluff. I haven't really considered items for the butchers either yet.
All the rest of the points would be spent on Gourgers. Since Skrag removes the limit on multiple choices on Gourgers, you could spend upwards of half the total army points just on Gourgers.
I'm still working on it, fluff wise, so I might be able to add different units, but that all comes in time.
May the Dragon of Unhappiness never fly up your bottom.
