Hi, i might start the ogre kingdom army, and was just wondering if they have there own lore, or if they even have magic and who casts it??
thnks in advance.
Ogres do indeed have magic, and yes they have their own lore. Gut Magic. The fluff behind it is as the butcher (caster) eats, he casts spells to power up your units (+1 S/T, Regeneration, etc.). But, as he eats, he hurts himself so they take damage after every spell (is this true, or is it just after miscasts?).
Thats pretty much it as far as I know, ask Abbadon or Grimbog Elf 'Ater, they have actually played with teh Kingdoms.
Nik-Nak's Horde of Goblin Liberation
Yes, Ogres have their own lore, which is more of a religious practice than arcane magic such as the use of the winds by other mages, and on 3 out of 6 of the spells he does take some form of damage. All spells are cast on a 3+, if said spell is succesfull and wants to be cast by another butcher in the same turn, it increases to a 6+, if a third butcher wants to cast it, it increases to a 9+. Overall, ogre magic is easy to get good spells through if you're wise in which spells to use first. A butcher may only use up to two dice on each spell (he is a level 2 wizard), and a slaughtermaster may only use 3 (he is a level 4 wizard)

So the fluff is the butcher actually eats a reagent of some form to cast magic? Does he eat a rock for that +1 T spell?
yeah, they do.Originally posted by SkyTyrant@Dec 28 2004, 00:46

Yeah, this is excellent! TY Angel of Rust!
Graktoof the vile, victor of 1000 battles, partial credit to 1000 more, and sore loser about the other 8000...
A part of a mountain to be entirely accurate, not just any old rock will do! Doesn't sound very appetising... or healthy for that matter!
The iron crowned is getting closer,
Swings his hammer down on him,
Like a thunderstorm he's crushing,
Down the Noldor's proudest king.
Under my foot, so hopeless it seems.
You've troubled my day, now feel the pain.

And here I was joking about the rock...
Ogre gut magic is the best or one of the best lores in the game cast on 3+ first of all, all have all the spells etc. But there are 2 problems. one the miscast table is just nasty. And 2 you just cant get enough of it to be amazing. A lvl 4 character is impossible as you can only have them when a tyrant is present (lord, 1 lord in 2000pts). but still its very good, ogres were never a magical army...
