Well here's what im thinkin about doing. I am thinking about putting either my butcher and tyrant in a squad of 4 ironguts so i can get 2 ranks of 3, or im gonna put them in a squad of 6 so i can get 2 ranks of 4. Then my butcher would be in a better position to cast all his nifty gut magic on their squad.

I will also have another Butcher in a squad of 5 bulls so that he can do his stuff too.

I thought that this was a pretty good idea. What do you guys think?

It IS a lethal combination when theyre in combat, but you must remember that your tyrant would probably have had a team of gnoblars painting a series of concentric white and red rings all over the unit...
Its perfect for those who do not mind having all their unhatched infant hens placed in one woven reed recepticle...
But, as I said, if somehow they get near the enemy, youll slaughter them.

It would be a very powerful combat unit but you are concentrating a lot of points in one plaec. Every war machine, spell or missile weapon is going straight at them. You would be hard pushed to get this unit into a fight, especially if your opponent has any fast cavalry to slow you down/flank charge you.

In a bigger battle, it could work really well or really badly, I mean it all depends who you're playing. An army of nuln....you might want to reconsider, a khorne mortal army...go for it! They did the exact same thing in WD 300 in the empire vs. Ogre Kingdoms 3000 point battle, 6 ironguts and a butcher and tyrant. It seemed to work pretty well.

One downfall here is that even if you have a unit that's 4 wide, if you have command in the unit then you wouldn't get it's full benefit unless you go 5 wide (something I'd not advise to do with ogre size bases&#33. In other words, one of your command models would move to the second rank and you'd lose it's benefit (probably musician) while it's not in the front rank. For that reason, I tend to field heroes in separate units.

Well I usually dont give full command to my ogre units since they tend to be pretty small. all i really do is give them a bellower. Its just to many points to spend on a squad that is smallish and will most likely die.

Yeah, but giving them a champion would increase attacks and giving them a banner would give you better combat resolution, which in the long run makes up for the point cost, especially the banner, seeing as how it counts in combat resolution and all.

For ogres, a unit of 6 is huge, and I'd definitely invest in a command group as these guys should be your 'bulk' units. If you think about it, that's 18 wounds in the unit! The only thing I'd possibly skimp on in the command is the musician, so that would allow you to have 2 characters in the front ranks of a unit that's 4 wide.
