What should I generally choose for my core troops in a 1000 point army. I mean having a large squad of bulls is going to dominate most squads it chooses to charge, but it would get dominated by flankers. I have been doing two squads of 9, one accompanied by a bruiser, and the other accompanied by a butcher. Is that the way to do it? That was enough to mess up some dwarves on the charge and I won but I think I can improve my strategy. The Butcher seemed useful, but I was also lucky with the dice rolls. I cast troll regen on both squads, then got lucky and casted bull gorger on both squad before they charged, but I know in most cases that wont happen. Should I keep the butcher? Also about ranking, I always see ogre players keep there squads in groups of 6, is there any reason for that or is it just coincidential. How would I go about flanking under these circumstances, and also how could I better go about dealing with artillery, because out of all of his units his boltthrowers killed more ogres than anything. Will a gorger, or some gnoblar trappers be able to destroy the bolt throwers?
Oh and would like 3 or 4 yhetees hiding behind a huge block of ogres be a good flanking idea? ANd btw what do the yhetees magical weapons do, I dont have my rulebook on hand.
(BTW I dont expect anyone to answer all these questions, I thought this might be some help to me and but somebody to work that wants to help)
Also, what would be agood idea for my character that HAD to take down characters. My generals constantly get pwned by dwarf characters that cost way less then mine because they have all of these special rules and runes which are bull**** and pwn my hiney. Any advice on what I should give my bruiser and tyrant for the dwarves. The thundermace looks terrible as well, due to its one hit it gets, which means a 50 / 50 chance against the thane or lord. :realmad:
*Continues The never ending wave of questions*
and no I am not spamming, I am just very curious.
Would A good combo for my tyrant be, Tenderizer, Demon Killer Scars, and A Wallcrusher long name.
Please use the edit button, not triple post. KU

sorry i don't play ogre kingdoms, so i can't answer these questions. but i wanna tell you something really cool. on the bottom right of your posts, there's a cool button called "edit". you use it to, you guess'd it, edit your posts. and if you want to add to your original posts, use the edit. answering your own posts counts as a spam, answering yourself three times even more so, and can get you in trouble. the librarium rules should be in a link over top my signiture, they're mostly just common sence but you might wanna browse them. and with your low post count, i'll assume your new, so welcome to librarium and i hope you enjoy your time here.
that's the thing about perfection, it can only get worse.
i've not played Warhammer fantasy yet in the current edition with the ogre kingdoms, but i THINK that magical weapons are similar to 40k's power weapons in regards to armor saves.
As for what you should take in 1000 points, i would start list-shopping, look over this forum, it has a few lists you might want to look at, use those as guides, try to work out their rationales for taking what they do.
The Ranking thing: seeing as how you don't get a rank bonus unless you have a squad of 4 models across, the six model group is basically to be able to withstand a few wounds and still be able to take stuff down with bull-charges. (that's how it was explained to me, i had the same question)
To kill bolt-throwers, Gorgers have about the same "popping up" power as a Tomb King Tomb Scorpion, and from what i've read about them, i would say go with the Gorger. i'm not too sure on how effective trappers are. (though this is based on hypothetical situations and research, again, i refer you to the statement at the top of this post)
To withstand some firepower: Lookout Gnoblars are essential from what i've read.
Hope this helps.
The best thing to do it to make up a list and see how you go. When playing, just take careful note of what works and what doesn't - and think of what would do the job better than the unit that did not perform to expectations. As for composition, you will have to have at least one bulls unit before the army is legal, so 7 in the unit would be good, and a tyrant in that group as well. If you're facing artillery heavy enemies, always kit out the unit with a cheap and effective lookout gnoblar to protect your characters with 'Lookout Sir' rolls.
As for the yhetee question, their magical weapons allow you to his etheral creatures (eg. banshees, spirit hosts and wraiths). They are great flankers and protecting them is wise, but also make use of terrain to hide behind to protect them if possible, as taking them out from behind another ogre unit will wast valuable time / turns before they get into combat.
Combos for bruiser to beat heavily armoured dwarf - Skullplucker, hvy armour, greedy fist; or hvy armour, siegebreaker (dwarven 'I' is crap!.
Combos for tyrant to beat heavily armoured dwarf - The Tenderiser, Giantbreaker Big Name, Wyrdstone necklace, hvy armour.
And your lord's items are pretty good, especially the daemon killer scars and the tenderiser. Mawseeker might be another option for a big name, and obviously taking heavy armour would be a must.
Hope this has answered your questions!

Like a thunderstorm he's crushing,
Down the Noldor's proudest king.

Couple tips from playing against Ogre Kingdoms:
1) Ogre's do get the rank bonus if they have a 3 model front, they are multiple wound models
2) Get gnobblar trappers... yes i said that. They are incredible against war machine crew. Oh and those bolt throwers pointed right at your Ogres CAN and WILL reduce your unit very quickly if you have a rank....
3) You need Gnobblars to prevent the flank attack. Skip the Groin bitter and use a block or 2 of 20... that's 40 points with a little bit of range attack, str 2 but hey it still works
4) 1000 point lists for Ogre Kingdoms are rough, you will be out magiced for the most part because you can have 1 butcher, and you have to take a butcher. yes your magic casts on a 3+ (awesome and scary rule) however my little goblin horde with 3 shaman had a nice time vs a ogre army.
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
does a tyrant with a magical weapon ie "thundemace" count as a magical attack?
I do not believe two ranks of three Ogres would get a rank bonus, as the BRB states that you gain a +1 combat resolution bonus for each rank of four * models *.
