The only valid strategy against shooty / artillery armies (empire, dwarves, etc) is to have a massive squad of gnoblars up the front.
Although this can be helpful (and relatively cheap) I would rather not rely on gnoblars at all, and I also believe it is a very un-ogre-ish thing to do (hide like cowards behind a line of gnoblars). On top of that I changed to fantasy someone because I was getting bored of 40k Orks and hiding behind grots . I cannot think of any other method against shooty armies, because frankly we are terrible against it. For 35 points our endurance is terrible (totalling armour, toughness and wounds) the best part about us is our strength offensively, but against shooty armies, our weak armour and high cost for what we're getting makes us very vulnerable.
Taking this into consideration, does anyone have any ideas or strategies they have used against shooty armies in the past? Thanks in advance.

I came up with two methods for shooty armies:
The first one is to have massive ogre units of about 7 or 8+. It's expensive but it helps you get the front line of the unit intact to the enemy.
The second method is to have a unit of ogre bulls (4 ogres) to block the enemy shooting (this unit will be just 4 ogres with no upgrades). Alter. You can have 2 units of 3 ogres to do the same but that would also be expensive (but more units make more flank charges possible).
The one disadvantage of gnoblars blocking the shooting is that you can not move on max. speed of 6 (gnoblars have M4 and the bickering rule).
The main offensive power we have against shooty armies is that we have a movement of 6, so we should be able to be in combat by turn 2 (or 3 is defensive army). A bit of luck will be needed in this part (dice of the enemy and terrain).
Hope this helps you.
