How many of you are using Ogres in a tourny?

i was just wondering because they are a new team out and if you have taken them did many people have army lists there that were perfected to take ogres (multiple wound causing, lots of units able to surround, a fair bit of artillary)
and if your planning on taking them do you expect to see the above, and are you mainly taking them because they are new or are they a main team?

(sry about all the questions but there we go)

well people have been using BTs for the longest time, they just learn how to deal with them.

I have been taking it this weekend, and they rely really on dice, I pourely did with charges, and the very average Ld got me some though breaks.

Also as I chose to flee from charges, in average roll 3-5, mostly getting cought by an inch!

From what I have seen, ogres (especially pure ogre forces) do it tough in tournaments. At Conflict this year, I had a chat with 2 players who fielded ogre (only) forces and they ended up getting whipped most of the time, one guy won one of three matches, the other was massacred every time.

In two other tourneys, there was one ogre player in each, the first resulted in the guy 2 minor wins, 2 draws and a loss; while in the other the guy had a draw, a minor loss and a massacre loss.

I shudder to thing what a shooting and magic heavy army would to to ogres with their paper thing armour! I haven't seen them up against the Skaven SoD army, but I imagine it wouldn't be very pretty! That's where you'd need gnoblar trappers and gorgers to distract the little rat things from what's in front of them... not to mention lots of magical defence being required.

they seem like quite a tough army to play, you look at the stat line and think wow not bad
but then you realise that even chaos armies can outnumber you
and another question here for you ogre players:
does their charge 'impact hit' thing (sorry i cant remember the name) come in useful at all?

The bull charge is fantastic. Especially when you have the bull gorger spell in play and led by a tyrant / bruiser. You can potentially have s6 or 7 (with giant breaker big name) impact hits from your heroes! Not much will save against that! The rest having s5 impact hits isn't too shabby either (again, with bull gorger in play).
