Welcome to Librarium Online!
I picked up my montly white dwarf today, and was delighted to see that the ogre cavalry is offical (listed chronicles), but we also get an alternative armylist for the Ironskin tribe !
also, we get 2 sizes for the ogre cavalry, rhinox (standard 50mmx50mm base) and bull rhinox (chariot base).
I'll be converting these bad boys, even keep up a thread on it (avoid the Forge World 36 GBP) as soon as possible.
Yes! I'll definitely be adding some now that they're official. I don't have the September issue yet but are they any different, statswise? Have their points been lowered (not asking for specific numbers here, seeing as how that's against the rules)? I must say I'm tempted to buy the Forge World models as I far prefer plastic to metal (plus, they look great), but I don't know. I have three armies on the go right now plus a Mordheim warband so I'm pretty strapped for cash . Still, I will be getting them .
Make convetions for them instead, much lighter for the wallet.
There is also a special caracter for the Ironskin Tribe, Ghark Ironskin, on a steam rhinox!
The bull rhinox as better WS S and A, but end up being a bit expensive, the upgrade stil costs 45 pts.
Here's how I'll gear my unit ( not giving away any copyrights ^_^ )
2 Rhinox Riders 244 pts
Heavy Armour, Ironfist
Not too expensive, and still packs 10 wounds with a 2+ save.
hopefully gamesworkshop will make them instead as they would be easy to get for some people and hopefully cheaper, and another speacial character cant wai to see the model
BOOM, HUR HUR HUR,
3000+ point OGRE KINGDOM ARMY
Join the THE ANZAC CLAN....... or suffer
I am the Empire, 63% Honorable, 49% Bloodthirsty, 44% Magic-minded, and 62% tactically-oriented!
Don't count on it, at least not any time soon.
Yeah, why would they? Forge World has it "covered".
they're actually the most affordable looking Forge World models i've ever seen though! let's face it £26 is amazing compared to the £4 Guardsmen and the like.
I still hate Twiglets!
The biggest problem I have with converting them is positioning the plastic Ogre legs to fit around the Rhinox. It would take some major use of greenstuff and I suck at sculpting (and I mean SUCK). I might splurge on the Forge World models just to get plastic Rhinoxen (and to save me a lot of grief).
I used to be in your situation Zanzibar, sculting takes alot of effrt, but also layering, not just try to mold out of a single slop.
I would suggest you buy a strip of green stuff, and simply using it to mold different shapes, practice makes perfect.
Then, when you feel you've improved enough, simply give it a try, you will learn of each time you've made a mistake, and I've made alot of those ^_^
The only thing I can convincingly sculpt is hair, so that's all I sculpt (my Butcher is converted from a plastic Bull and the apron I sculpted for him looks like crap, though I like his mask so he's pretty good, I guess). Yeah, I'll be practicing for a while yet before I tackle something like Ogre legs (these riders are a little ways off anyway).
