Over all it doesn't seem like ogres take a hefty enough penalty for the nice things they get IMO. To begin, take some of their items for example. I grant their stone thrower hammer isnt ENTIRELY askew in cost but for example the high elf bolt thrower bow costs more and still has to hit. The ogre hammer is like a stone thrower that doesnt scatter. Again I'm not entirely upset with the cost but it bears mentioning. I also noticed they have a ward save item thats only penalty for its very adjusted cost might not even factor into the game. The one weapon that got me to thinking something wasnt right was the butchers cleaver or w/e its called. Why is this item so much cheaper than the vampires equivalent. It really really seems like vampires should've had this on everyone but now ogres get it for quite a bit cheaper. Is it because they know butchers will naturally fight worse than vamps ? Is it because you would have to take up points making them fight better and therefore not cast as potentially well (even though it synergizes with their casting amazingly) I'm mostly writing this to see how everyone else thinks they balance things when they implement them I don't think ogres are broken but definitely two of these items are some of their better.
As for units, I would have to say maneaters meet that critera, sure they're unbeliveably expensive but they are basically like itemless lords or better compared to some lists. Should there be a cutoff point for non character units so games dont end up where lists who cant generate anything nearly as potent dont go up agaisnt units of models just as strong as their lords?

First off, the one stone thrower attack (only one) must be a) used while in combat, and b) there is a 50/50, or at best 66/33 chance of hitting.Originally Posted by Domstrae
The reason the blood cleaver or w/e is cheaper than the vampires version, is because this is available to our magic casters (albeit even ogre mages are still beasts in combat, vampires are the absolute peak of combat characters, so obviously giving them the same thing would cost more.)
hopefully i answered your questions.
Maneater are a rare slot. This means they alwyas come in limited numbers. They are as good as most caracters, and should be, but they can't be generals, and too many ''caracters'' in an Ogre Kingdoms list is a bad thing.
Ogres have very decent drawbacks. limited ward saves, the wrydstone necklace might even make you loose a wound ^_^. Also they have limited armour, as the best save a caracter can acheive would be 3+/2+ if not taking an weapon upgrade, and taking a gut maw and such.
Troops have very low arnour saves, Weapon skill, Initiative and Leadership, wich makes uo for the 6 movement, bull charge and number of attack.
Most magical weapons and items have very, very specific roles, most ogre generals would rather keep thier caracters plain with a great weapon, heavy armour and gut maw.
Butchers do get a nice cheaper equivalent, but they still have only WS 3 and S4, not much to brag about.
