My two main armies are WE and VC, but I've been thinking about backdooring into OK. I usually buy all the models so that I can run whatever I want. This time, I intend to build to a specific list. It will be just for fun, so I'm not interested in the most balanced list possible. I want something a bit different.
So far, I've got three maneaters (Bertha's Big Nuggets--you can see 'em in the gallery) and am working on Leadbelchers. They are DoW units for my VC. Having these guys is why I'm thinking of starting an OK army---probably just as GW planned.
I was thinking of using Skragg as the general, and probably lone character, in the list. Have any of you played with Skragg? How did he fare? He seems inexpensive for an OK special character. Heck, cheap for any special character at 400 pts.
And if I take him, there will be plenty of gorgers--I love the idea of 4 or more unbreakable units entering the table. How do those units perform for you all?
Thanks for any tips.
I've playtested Skragg once or twice, and can say the fallowing:
- Once get gets to combat, he probably won't get stoped, but he has to get there (only T6 to protect him, no ward or armour)
- His magic can be pretty nasty, as he gets 6 dice to cast is 6 spells on 3+ .
- Having unbreakable gorgers is nice, but they won't hold more that 3-4 rounds of combat vs S3 troops, and 2 rounds against S4+ troops, so you'll need to get some bulls or ironguts to support them.
Thanks for responding.Originally Posted by Wolf_Pack
I didn't think about the absence of saves, but once that regeneration kicks in...
Yes, the magic looks great.
I hope that using him as the only character will allow for bulls and/or iron guts. I'll work up a list to post sometime soon.
A bruiser with the Jade Lion or Fistful of Laurels might be of great help, he'll bump a unit of bulls Leadership to 8 and make them reroll psychology tests as well.Originally Posted by DavidVC04
