what exactly does a bull charge do ?
And can anyone help me settle a dispute , who would win in a battle vampire counts ( with 2 blood dragon thralls and a necromancer , 8 black knights ,21 grave gaurd , 10 ghouls ) or the ogre kingdoms battalion and a brusier ,both around about 1000pts
and how would they do against elves and orcs and goblins
A bull charge is when an ogre or a unit of ogres charges into another unit, and causes one impact hit per ogre on the front rank of the ogre unit. The strength of the hit is based on the base strength of the ogre(s), plus it gets an extra +1 to the strength of the impact hit if there is an ogre directly behind the models in the front rank.
For example: I have a unit of 4 ogre bulls, and they charge a unit of orcs. The ogres have a base strength of 4, so they hit the unit of orcs doing 4 impact hits at strength 4. If there had been a second rank of 4 ogres in the unit, the strength of the impact hits would have been 5 instead of 4.
On the who would win question, if both armies have 1k points of legal army list, then the fight should be fairly even, and the outcome would be determined by the best strategy and dice rolling.
Don't forget to mention that you need to charge at least 6" to get the effect of a bull charge. There also need to be at least 3 ogre models in the unit, so lone characters dont get the effect.
Correct-o! I just mentioned the single character as he would be in the unit, and benefiting from it as well. But yeah, don't forget you need at least the 6" too.
Even so, some people have been playing their chosen armies for years, and know them inside out. This is particularly evident at my gaming club where people run rings around ogre kingdom players.Originally Posted by Mishra

I think an experienced VC player should beat ogres everytime
OK is definately not a 'bummer' of an army. You just can't build and/or play it like other armies. Its kinda funny, but the ogres are a finesse list. You need to use every unit very carefully. I also tend to use quite a few dogs of war units to fill in gaps in the list.
Anyway, everyone in our club has been playing for 6-7+ years, and I'm currently 2-1-0 with my ogre list.
I agree. There is one OK player at our store, and he hasn't been doing well at all. I feel kind of sorry for him cause he's a really nice, polite player (sometimes hard to find!), but he won't run anything but the required bulls, iron guts, a couple of leadbelchers, Skrag and Skrag's required units. He refuses to admit gnoblars in any form or use are any good, whether they be fighters, trappers or on the scraplauncher.Originally Posted by Khaazen
It's definitely an army that takes skill to use well.
Just a quick update. After tonight's games (lol, its actually sunday morning, I just got home) my OK record is now 3-1-1, so there is hope for us!!
Great job! Feed them to the Maw!
