Hi, I'm a relative NoOb to Ogres (haven't played warhammer for a couple of years) and a complete NoOb to this forum. I'm feeling a fledgling Ogre army germinating in my gut and was running an eye down the army list considering what to include. I think the Gorger model is damn sexy (sexy?) and really want to include one but don't really understand the Killing Blow rule...
Could someone please clarify this rule and give me some Gorger tips/tactics
sorry, didn't mean to post twice, my computer was screwing up. Is there a way i can delete the duplicate?
Killing blow simply means that when you roll to hit, if you score a six this automatically wounds with no save. It only works on mansized models though (there are exceptions where noted, both Brettonian and Skaven have an exception)
As for the Gorger I don't play Ogres but i've played against them. Be careful of artillary when it appears on the board. It's powerful but will die a quick death of you put him in a silly position.
If you like the model then i think you should definately play one, as that's what the game is all about at the end of the day - armies that look cool!
not only does killing blow automatically wound on a 6 with no save, but man-sized models are killed outright, no matter how many wounds they have (only ward saves can stop this).
for some helpful hints, and tactics, here you go.
1. Make sure you take a piar of gorgers. If you jsut take one, it has the potential of not coing in unti turn 5, which is really sucky as he could get lost. 2 gorgers insure that you will be able to get at least one in on turn 2 or 3. also if they both come in, then what ever they are hunting will go down easier, as there are 2 gorgers with 4 attacks, s5 and killing blow. Preety sweet for just 75 points.
2. Gorgers also need acess the the enemy, make sure you have a goal set for your gorgers at the beginning. Such as warmachine hunter, or char hunter.
3. If you mare going char hunting make sure that you aim your attacks at the char. Otherwise they are assumed to be at the unit which is a total waste of your killing blow as most troops will get a 6+ save vs. s5 anyways, or sometimes no save at all!
hope that helps.
And yes, the gorger models are very impressive.

Sorry- what were the exceptions to Killing Blow? Apart from ward save, of course.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
The model has to be man-sized.Originally Posted by The Paint Monkey
