I'm thinking of starting a warhammer army and I like the orges. I don't have the codex so i want some advice about if they are really good and why are they so good. I play 40k and i play the tyranids so i wanted to play an army with less modles that are really strong. Advice please.
Well, I must say this before you start to play, while an ogre's stats are impressive, they are expensive, thus your army has less units, which makes winning at first near impossible, but I love the models, fluff and nothing beats the feeling when you win with them. But great tactics are a need if you hope to win. But after a while you get a hang of them and start winning as much as any other army, but i recommend them if you want a challenge.
BOOM, HUR HUR HUR,

are they cheap money wise?
Well it all depends on you. The less pewter in your army the better, this is a constant factor in any army.Originally Posted by funkwall
don't go over the top with Ironguts, and do not dismiss gnoblars. Don't overdo it with yethees, forget the slave giant.
Caracters are wounderful, but don't overburden yourself with them. A bruiser is worth many ogres, wich give you many more wounds.
I'm still collecting, I can play smaller games, but my list isn't up to full size yet. I thought that Ogres would be cheaper than other armies: lower model count.Originally Posted by funkwall
I'm finding them to be about par on price though. . . of course my unhealthy facination with Gnoblar probably doesn't help. . . buy a box of models. . . OK that was like 40 pts. . .
just can't help it though.
Votewar MKV 2nd place. . .
Back from internet limbo, and glad to be here.
Ogres are an army you have to get used to playing. Its not just charging in to melle. I think the army deal is quite good. 6 bulls, 4 guts, 4 leadbelchers and 24 gnoblars. The basics to start. And it brings enough bits to make lots of conversions. But you still need the tougher models. Tyrants, Bruisers, maneaters...
