in all honosty it really depends. His lower BS means that alot of your shots are going to miss taking away a big chunk of his power. Tho when that bolt thrower hits it does some nasty damage to things like dragons or maticors (i run into them alot). The saber tusks are also very good at hunting lone mages or taking out warmachine crew.
Tho it is my personal preference that if i have the points to take a hunter i would take a butcher instead. Or mabe a BsB if you dont have one.
Looking for help with your Ogre kingdoms. Need help against them? have burning questions about life or why Dave's Avatar is so creepy. Feel free to stop by and ask OverTyrant Loki
The biggest problem with the Hunter is his lack of Move and shoot and to a lesser extent thte BS.
He has bruiser level stats with a higher leader ship and the cats (granted with crap armor) but his big advantage (the harpoon) also keeps him out of combat (where his best stats are till late in the game)
to say the least he is a frustrating unit to play. My best usage has been making him a long strider and deploying him with 2 or 3 units of yettees on the flank. on a side with trappers. used in that way he and his cats really help make a yettee group more efficiant on the flank. that said its near 500 points for a flanking unit and that hurts.
I use the harpoon as a character killer/monster killer ranther than rank and file. But I don't see it as his main advantagebe cause he only hits maybe 50% of the time.
Hmm, I've gotten tepid responses from other OK players, too.
Well, I got the model off ebay. I'll assemble it and see what I think after a few games before I paint it.
I do really like butchers. When I'm not using Skragg (which I would always use for friendly games if not for that damned US 6 models-being-picked-out rule) I'm thinking of not using a tyrant but a bruiser and two butchers as my heroes.

No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
