What do you guys think is the best way to deal with the high elves?
The way I see as best is just blast into them. Put all your points into bulls or iron guts and just blast. Bows dont do too much, and elves arnt the strongest guys around.
Repeater bolt throwers can ruin your day. If he brings 2 (pretty standard in High Elf armies) he can down a few ogres, and when it matters. 4 would be desastrous.
Gorgers can overcome this, or screens of gnoblar trappers. But be careful when deploying your gorger. If both BTs can draw LoS to him, they have a good chance of downing him fast. so 2 gorgers might be best. If not, I use a hunter with the grey back pelt, and a 2nd or 3rd turn Sick em boys charge usually takes care of it.
Another strength of the High Elves is magic. The book of Hoeth is plain nasty. But strangely enough, we are the only army to have a trick against it. The Hell Hearth. It will nullify is book for 1 turn, and is likely to cripple a mage who dares to cast that turn. Usually use best on the turn you move in on is troops, and ready the charge. This will throw of Counter measures.
Don't undersestimate Elven combat. They don't take charges well, but can dish out on the charging end.
