Rep Power: 50 ![]() | Zombie RPG Ideas Basic Rules(suggestions would be much appriciated) Still don’t have these quite worked out yet. I think this game is going to use the standard d20 die. Im not sure how the whole attack phase will work but im thinking about using the forum based combat rules. Zombies are going to be weak and characters will be fragile by themselves but in a group will be prettty stong as long as they work together. I might use a squad of zombies as one unit to help simplify the combat phase so it wont take hours. Still got to work on the whole skill and advancement thing and im going to keep on updating it as I go. I might run the rpg but if any one else wants to then be my guest since i have never run an online rpg. The whole class thing is not set in stone any suggestions would be great. Skills: These are basically talents that characters have that will help them either modify dice scores or perform certain things like sneaking up on people or noticing something other characters would not. (Got to make a long list) Advancements: Each skill is going to have three ranks. Advancements are earned as you level up much like skills but instead of being a completely different thing it will help player focus on one thing they like and improve it. Society Labels (Might work might not): The whole idea behind this is to add some differences between lets say a upper class scout and a lower class scout. The upper class scout could be, lets say and exotic animal hunter. He would probably get firearms training and then use both his starting advancements to turn it into expert firearms training. Now a Lower Class scout might be a resourceful junkyard scavenger who has had to grow up on the streets. To represent the hardships the scavenger has faced would be three extra skills. He would not be an expert in one of his skills but the variety would help him adjust. Classes (Still working on names suggestions welcome) Protagonist/Leader Scavenger/Scout Hulk/Protector Medic/Doctor Fighter/Combatant Society Labels(Might work might not) Upper Class: 1 Skill, 2 Advancements Middle Class: 2 Skills, 1 Advancement Lower Class: 3 Skills Protagonist/Leader This class represents a person who has decided to take on a leadership role during the current chaos. It can be made up of any society label upper, middle, or lower class. A leader can be found in the most unlikely of places when people are thrust into a survival situation. A guy who worked all his life in a cubicle could take on the role of a leader character it all really evolves around what you can think of. The reason for being elected a leader is usually because the group decides you are the one with the most knowledge of what is going on. Unique Skill: Leadership Starting Skills: Zombie Knowledge and Inspiration Scavenger/Scout A common junkyard scavenger or a wealthy professional art thief could fall under this class. A scout has some very useful skills that are crucial for any survivor group. He/She generally is some one who knows the terrain and area by the back of their hand. They are usually quick witted and tend to have much better instinct than most people. A scout is always the first person to enter an uncharted area. The team depends on the scout for his/her keen eyesight and superior hearing. Unique Skills: Survival, Sneak Starting Skills: Scouting and Observation Hulk/Protector The protector is their too take a punch for the team. They fill in a much needed weak spot in a group. Imagine a sumo wrestler holding a door from a raging horde of zombies while your medic patches up a teammate and you will get a picture of a protector. He/she is the most resilient member of any group and is able to take the most punishment. Not the quietist and certainly not the most tactful but these negative traits are more than made up for with the protector’s high Hp. Unique Skill: +5 Hp Starting Skills: Resilient, Tough, and Strong Medic/Doctor Anything from a trained nurse to an ambulance driver falls under this class. A medic provides support to a survivor group in many ways. He/she heals many more Hp points than a standard person with first aid knowledge. A group will always value the medical skills of a trained professional. A medic might be frail but the survivors will usually do their best to protect him/her. Unique Skill: Medical Treatment, add +2 hp to all healing skills, -2 Hp Starting Skills: Fist Aid and Solanum Knowledge Fighter/Combatant A fighter is the main damage dealer in a band of survivors. Anything from a skilled hunter to a police officer falls into this category. A combatant is essentially a zombie killer born and bred. He is almost always trained in the firearm usage and meele combat. An exsperienced combatant is always sought after to help out most survivor groups. Think about it, a group with a fighter in it survival chances are greatly increased. Unique Skills: +1 Skill or Advancement when you start Starting Skills: Firearm Training, Meele Combat Training, Aim, Critical Hit So these are the classes I was thinking about. I will post what the skills do and the kinds of advancements as I go but I wanted to see if any one was interested first. Dr. Nick any comments or suggestions would be great seeing as you are labeled as LO's Gming GOD. If any one would be willing to help me with this project that be great. |

It shows a lot of promise, I think. I really like the idea of the upper class/lower class kinda thing, it's very innovative. For the game, you can use Invisible Castle, a dice rolling website - Invisible Castle :: Roll Dice That should make things easier in that respect. So far the skills and some of the rules will need a little more fleshing out, but you're definitely on the right track. Let me know when you've got more of the rules developed |

you should make special rules for stuff characters can find to use as weapons, like shotguns, rocketluanchers, frying pan, blunt objects ect... also, i think crit hits should be like zombie bites, where something really bad happens. I would like to help in any way i can i think this is a very good idea.

A zombie MMORPG would be a nightmare (pun intended, but not very good!) to balance, but it would be EXTREMELY rewarding/fun. Imagine trying to survive and once you are taken trying to kill everyone..i would definitely want to try it out. It would be hard to balance because one side could *rush* the other side and completely sway the balance of power...and if the zombies shift the balance of power in their favor I think it would be GG for the entire game.
