5 Wolf Ridders 65
This is the list i want to run for casual games for fun. I feel like some of the upgrades aren't necessary (don't really know if Big 'Uns are worth it) but if i do take those points off i don't know where to put them because i feel like i already have a lot of units that will take up a lot of space. Please comment on what you think about it and how i could change it.
I will probably run the Savage orc units as my center with chariots on the sides then Arrer boyz then the wolf ridder units on the flanks and leave the spear chukkas on hills.
Do you think i should trade out the boar chariots for four more spear chukka's? I feel like that is sort of overkill but very dangerous.
Perhaps your Arrer Boyz into four units instead of two and drop the command as it's not needed. Also, give your wolf riders a musician each, it'll come in handy.
You may need more units for to stop your frenzied units being pulled, I used a big block of savage orc big uns and another unit of savage orcs and it did really well but I started loosing when people used frenzy against me.
Thanks for the advice i think I'm going to only have one unit of savages in my army and more regular orcs and night goblins.
I think savage orcs can be lots of fun and if you are running a themed army you should definitly have 2 squads of them as well as making your shaman a savage (who else could be the brains behind the whole operation than a extra crazy orc shaman!).
As for your arrer squads themselves I would do what DunnoM said and break them up into groups of ten and only have musicians in there as those extra banners are a easy 100pts for your opponent and all those ranked archers wont be able to shoot so it would be a waste of points.
I personally love savage big uns because if used properly they are more effective than black orcs and cheaper too. The way I run my squad is 6 across and 2-3 extra ranks (depending on your preference), full command, and the banner of butchery. The trick is to let your opponent charge you and then you unleash the fury of the banner of butchery. It equals 33 strength 4 attacks! There isn't much out there that can withstand this many attacks. Adding a 5+/6+ armor save on this unit is too expensive for what you get. Most units out there will punch through that too easily. I suggest you stick with the 6+ ward save and spend points elsewhere.
Any points you save can go towards cheap blocks of 20 vanilla goblin/night goblin archers that can act as screens to prevent your opponent from using frenzy against you. Just have your goblins march up right in front of your savages and wait until they get charged, once they get charged you flee with the gobbos and counter with the savages. No panic tests are needed as you have frenzy and even if they didn't have frenzy, you are orcs and they are goblins so they don't cause panic.
As for your specials and rares, they look great and I think they compliment your army nicley.
As for your characters they look great as well, the only thing I would change is put your 3 fightie characters on boars to give you that 3+ armor save and give your warboss iron gnashas and colar of zorga instead of the boots (killing blow works great with the screamin swords extra attacks you cant go wrong with the 5pts colar of zorga).
Anyways, hope that was helpful... WAAAGH?
Two droids walk into a bar. The bartender says "Hey, we don't serve your kind here.", so they leave.
