Hi, I probably going to be getting into Fantasy in a little while since I can get a lot of Night Goblins and various things for really cheap. I whipped this up after reading Paint Monkeys Guide and borrowed heavily from his ideas, which I really liked.
Not a Fantasy veteran or anything, just know the rules pretty well. Lemme know what you think.
I like his Ld, has some useful abilities and decent in CC for a Gobbo. A little expensive but oh well.
Night Goblin Big Boss w/ RGBRRB
Makes my lines less likely to Panic, basically a life saver.
Night Goblin Big Boss on Great Squig w/ Wollapa's One Hit Wunda and Brimstone Bauble
Kind of a fire and forget random missile. He's there to do some damage and die in heroic fashion.
Night Goblin Shaman w/ Staff of Sneaky Stealin'
Bolsters Magic defense and maybe gets a cheap spell off.
20 Night Goblins w/ Bows and 1 Fanatic
20 Night Goblins w/ Bows and 1 Fanatic
Cheap support unit with a Fanatic to keep things surprising. Meant to deal with Fast Cav and those type of things so they can't release my main units and ruin my lines.
27 Night Goblins w/ FC and 3 Fanatics (Skarsnik goes here)
29 Night Goblins w/ FC and 3 Fanatics (Shaman goes here)
29 Night Goblins w/ FC and 3 Fanatics ( BSB goes here)
30 Night Goblins w/ FC and 3 Fanatics
Basic "fighty" units. Maximum Fanatics to do damage up front. Not sure if I should put the characters in all different units or not, open to suggestion there.
2 Spear Chukkas
Helps with big blocks of infantry and bigger monsters. Cheap.
2 units of 10 Squig Hoppers
The units that do some damage in CC. Rather fond of them really, they hit pretty hard in the right circumstances and are cheap.
2 Snotling Pump Wagons
Same job as the Squig Hoppers.
I guess that's kind of a "basic" Night Gobbo army but it looks like it could be really fun to play, win a little bit and be a popular foe for the randomness. Any thoughts?
Looks like a very balanced list. Has about every strong thing a goblin list can get, and you have lots of units to deploy, artillery as backup, squigs to protect flanks or bounce into the fray, 14 fanatics and your units are well capable of eating some hits.
Maybe 14 fans is a bit too much hehe... Anyway keep an eye on the terrain, it will work against your fanatics.
Im a big fan of squig herders, as a bombing unit it doesnt even matter wether they win or lose, they work very well against Toughness4 units (like dwarfs),
a unit would only be about 60 points and you have the special slot...
Warchief Diggah o da Bloodmoon Squiggahs
Hi, Great list!
Your entire army is night gobbos except the spear chukka crew and the pump wagons. Personally i would use night gobbo models for the crew of the war machines just for looks.
In keeping with the theme I would drop the pump wagons and replace with either
- doom diver (use night gobbos for crew)
- squig herd (2 or 3 teams)
They are equally as fun
You might also want to consider
- changing staff of sneaky stealin for two scrolls (whatever works best for you)
- Netters? I dont know if theyre worth it but you might want to consider it.
- dropping 2 or 3 fanatics (14 is a lot and you could spend the points on other things)
- if you can find the points mabye squeese in a giant, theyre always fun
- light armour for your BSB and L armour + shield for the squig rider
Just throwing these points out there for duscussion.
Hope this helps
I'm sorry the non-Bow units have Nets. Forgot that until now.
I did plan to use Night Gobbo models for everything, Snotlings are fine with me because they're even weedier.
I really like the Pump Wagons because they hit fairly hard for diiiiiiirt cheap and I want the army to be random. Random = fun for me.
Not a Doom Diver fan because I can't guess ranges to save my life.
I will add the Light Armor and Shield, I had 10 points to spare.
I'd have to test the Fanatics but their job seems to be weakening blocks so I win combat via resolution. Also really good against those Cavalry doom units everyone has here.
I'll have to test the Staff, most magic isn't overpowering here so 4 dice and -1 for them should keep me healthy.
I'm not sure on the Herds, I like the Riders a bit more myself. They both do the same job in terms of what I want. The Herd seems a bit more weak to missile fire and the break thing might go badly for me.
Maybe consider snotlings for baiting/redirecing since they don't cause goblins to panic. Plus their cool models.
