Last weekend a couple of friends of mine decided it was time to start a campaign. And because some of us are just new to WHFB we decided we would be making it a warband campaign. Nice moment for me to let my high elves where they are and get my goblins of the shelf!
for al you who do not know anymore what the difference is with normal warhammer: the unit size. In Warbands infantry models may be in units of 3, cavalry in units of 2 and monsters (like trolls and such) can be fielded alone.
We decided we would start the campaign at a starting value of 200 points. right now we all have played 2 battles, and depending on how you've done, you get extra experience points. After playing the first battle i earned 75Exp, witch i immediatley used to beef up my army.
Because my Boss has the Intimidator Special rule, i may choose to change my randomly determined objective into the Invade objective. Goal of this objective is to get 1/3 of the warband's unit strength in the opponents deployment zone.
I play against: Lizardmen, Dwarfs, Empire and Bretonnia
With that said, this now is my current army list:
Skibbit (NG Big Boss, Intimidator)
Martog's best Basha, Collar of Zorga, Light Armour, Shield, Arm Wound(-1WS)
Night Goblins 15x
Spears, Standard Bearer 2x Fanatic, Veteran Status 1 (re-roll on 1 dice in each battle, including to hit, to wound, Armour Saves an LD tests)
Forest Goblin Spider Riders 2x
Forest Goblin Spider Riders 2x
Right now, before we continue the campaign next weekend i have 75 exp to spend. Exp can be used to buy more models (against normal point cost) and to upgrade any of above units into veterans for 10 points.
My problem right now is that i don't know how to spend my points. The big issue is that currently my 4 spider riders are exactly 1/3 of my total unit strength. This makes i can send them forward through terrain and securing my objective in the last turn. But if i add another unit of spearmen or archers, the spiders alone won't be enough to get the objective, forcing me to march forward with my big unit(s). Besides that, i really love the squig hopper models(i don't have them yet, but soon will) but i'm not sure if they will really do their job the way i want them to.
I hope you can get me some good advice about my choices, and maybe you've come up with a totally different idea, anyway please let me know
Thanks in advance,
I would suggest Spending points on new units, but just make sure you add spider riders accordingly to keep them at 1/3 of your armies unit strength.
i'm thinking of getting 10-15 archers with a fanatic, but i don't feel like they will really do their job with their poor range...
there just are to manny options XD (like adding a shaman would be viable too)
I would consider squig herds, or like you said a shaman for a lil magic. I just feel that if you are going to be sitting the spiders back until the late turns, that you are going to need something to help hold up the enemy, and the S5 attacks from the squigs will add a lil punch to your ranks also. Just some thoughts?
