A tribe of orcs have moved into the mountain range of my beloved goblin horde and taken over. Annoyed with his power being stolen the goblin boss with the help of his shaman's special mushrooms has plotted the assassination of the entire orc force in a single night. Filled with new found arrogance and success, the goblin boss has decided to go around pillaging the surrounding lands.
Well, after stagnating my orcs and goblins for a long time, mainly because i got fed up with feeling like i had to use orcs to stand a chance when my love for the little goblins far exceeded that of the orcish bullys. I figure id try and just forget winning, best thing about the army imo is that you can get utterly slaughtered and still have a good game because they're simply fun.
So I tried to make a list, which, in all honesty I'm not sure about so I thought I'd put it up for some feedback. Please bare in mind this list is not to include a single orc. Or dispel scroll, i dont take them in any army, they're boring for both me and my opponent.
night Goblin great shaman, level 4, best boss 'at, staff of baadum!, 3 magic mushrooms.
night goblin shaman, level 2, nibla's itty ring, magic mushroom.
night Goblin big boss, gigantic spider, effigy of mork, martog's best basha, Light armour and shield.
night Goblin big boss, BSB, Raggety banner, Light armour.
20 night goblins, bows and musician.
30 night goblins, netters, full command and spears.
29 night goblins, netters, full command.
6 fanatics, spread over the 3 units of night goblins.
5 spider riders with musician and bows.
8 spider riders with full command and bows (big boss on gigantic spider sits here, might even do some damage :p)
Squig herds x 4
Squig herds x 4
squig hoppers x 10
2 spear chuckas
2 Snotling pump wagons
2000 points exactly
The plan is, my boss on gigantic spider will be a mobile flanking force with the spider riders harrying the enemy and charging where he is weak.
The BSB goes in one of the goblin blocks providing his re-roll to them and the other one (Which will stay nearby).
The squig herd units will be proving my hitting power, while the hoppers and pump wagons cause maximum damage to the enemie's key units before exploding no doubt, this also gives me some panic immune units, which should help with the cowardice of my army slightly and they will charge fear / terror causers un-hindered, animosity willing.
The chucka's and Doom diver is just for laughs and ranged support. Shamans are for magic support and defence. Hopefuly i have enough magic with just 2 (6 wizard levels total) to cause some havoc.
How does it all sound?

Which character is your general? Id assume itd be one of the big bosses, although they would have the same leadership as the shaman. What about taking a goblin big boss as your general. You would get extra leadership over the night goblin boss. At the moment your character with highest leadership is leadership 6. I can forsee lots of fleeing happening in this army (that generally happens with gobbos anyways i guess) but a bit more leadership from your general would help.
The magic mushrooms on the lvl 4 shaman is a bit of a gamble. Theres a potential for miscasts there, and you deffinately dont want your shaman, general (if you take him as that) and all those points blowing up.
Also for a goblin army there doesnt seem to be (in my eyes anyways) many core blocks of troops, although i guess the spiders are, however I have never taken them other then fast cavalry. Id probably bump the unit of 20 to 25. 20 gobbos just isnt enough.
First thing i thought was, where the heck did all the points go into?
well, that was after i thought: Nice fluff there
A fair point, i will make the goblin on gigantic spider a forest goblin big boss for the extra point of leadership
- night goblins cannot ride a giant spider, you will have to make this Goblin a normal one, but
Nonono not the spiderrider as general! He cannot stay with the army for the leadership AND go around the flanks. >.< but no one else has good leadership...
- perhaps delete the 8 spider riders unit and let the bigboss go on his own.
- if you switch his magic weapon to a onehitwunda, you will have something that can kill a Toughness 6 monster. Nothing you have can actually do that
- whatever you do, dont put your shamans in an animosity unit.
- if possible make your lvl2 shamans a normal goblin and give it a wolf, keeps him maneuverable you might need it with all the LoS ranged spells (cant have mushrooms then)
alot of thoughts. nothing too big. Good luck!
Warchief Diggah o da Bloodmoon Squiggahs
I'm not too sure where the points went either tbh, my guess is characters and squigs? I should know this.. but I'm currently at work and don't have my list pts values handy xD
You are indeed right digger, he must be a forest goblin, messed up there, i will use him for flanking and likely use the level 2 shaman on wolf as my general (forest goblin shaman rather than night). I'm sure I can figure some fluff for the forest goblins being in the army, I had some already anyway. If I do this, should i put the boss 'at on the general shaman rather than the lvl 4 shaman? either one of them are nice targets.
I will drop the eight spider riders for another block of goblins I think, and stick the gigantic spider guy on his own with the one hit wunda. Good idea I would have got a great cave squig but to be honest, I love the gigantic spider model so much I had to include one Plus compulsary movement on a character is not necessarily a good idea, sometimes its a good plan to stay where you are and the spider lets him navigate terrain more easily which is valuable.
Against monsters I was hoping my war machines and (assuming I get it) mork wants ya! would help, d6 str 10 hits is pretty nasty, or does it only work on unit str 1 models?
I was going to keep my shamans on their own mostly, or with war machine crews (immune to animosity). I have alot of practice with keeping toughness 3 liche priests alive without a unit so it should be ok, goblin great shaman even has 1 toughness over the liche.
Thanks for the feedback so far, seeing as noone has mentioned them I presume my special and rare choices are fine and only the characters and core are more suspect. Leadership really is my bane, but i refuse to take an orc warboss, however much it might help :p Hopefuly my gobbos will be equally stubborn, by not running away
