Well that was fun...... I was also thinking about dropping the great Shaman and getting a few more big bosses to go in the Big ass unit..... Thoughts????!!!
character spamming will be fun, but im more excited about short bow salvo fire spam.
Honestly who fields night goblins with bows for any other reason than availability and cheapness of the models? Now with salvo fire I will be intentionally fielding these dirt cheap blocks of arrow spam. With a fanatic or two they can really be a force.

what will salvo fire do?
Rumor has it models with bows can fire in 2 ranks plus half of each additional rank. So a block 30 night gobbos with bows, 10 wide by 3 deep, is 25 shots, only 90 points, and because of the horde rule units ten wide can fight in 3 ranks i believe? So yeah they wont go head to head with anyone, but for 90 points thats an obscene amount of hits.
just to point out, having read the book over lunch in my lgs yesterday, you cannot duplicate spells in the army unless it's the spell you swap out for. this means that you are guarenteed to have each spell in the lore at least once with this setup, but will have the s2 magic missile 3 times.
with the way power dice are now generated (2d6 at the start of the magic phase + 1 chance for every wizard to roll a 6 and get one + anything you can get from items), and the way bound items now work (must use power dice to cast), i can't see the reason to have more than a level 4 and a level 2. i'll be running a great shaman with the staff of baduum and a level 2 with the staff of sneaky stealin, along with 2 bound items (skarsnik and itty ring). the beauty of this is that you now use you magic level to add to your casting rolls - meaning the great shaman can cast every spell in the lore on 2d6 (average roll 12).
i haven't read salvo fire, but you can fire in two ranks, not sure how this interacts with the horde rule, but it's useful for mass firing NG on closing units.
bear in mind that a NG Big Boss with a great weapon is 39 points. i'll either be using these or single trolls to bulk out my fighting units with the new percentage rules on character and rare selection.
