Looks like a nice, solid list.
What formation are you running your Night Goblins in? I would suggest dropping the spears and possibly the netters and running them in ranks 5 wide. This column formation wont kill a great deal, but, will stand and hold almost any unit for a long time, long enough for one of your killy units to get into a flank.
I have never had much luck using Gobbo archers myself, would seriously consider dropping at least one of these units and throwing in 2 Doom Divers.
I find Doom divers great. They can soften up armoured units and even hit at characters hiding in the rear of the battlefield. With concentrated attacks they can completely devestate a unit.
Depending on who you are faceing, I would think that giving the Savage Orcs the razor Standard could work very well. All those attacks with armour piercing
I also prefer multiple Goblin Wolf Chariots over the Orc Chariot. If you have the points you may want to try dropping the Orc one and running a unit of 3 Gobbos.
It may be a good idea to split your magic levels a little. Maybe take a level 3 and a level 1 or 2 level 2's. You lose a couple of points from your casting/dispell rolls, but, with just one Shaman you risk ending your magic phase early from one unlucky roll causing a failure to cast or losing all of your magic from a bad miscast.
I always try and make my BSB as tough to kill as possible. People that know how greenskin armies operate will try everything they can to take him out.
if you can upgrade him to a Warboss, you can give him Fencers Blades (WS 10) and Glimmering Scales (-1 to hit). This wil leave most opponents requiring 6's to hit and all others 5's.
Get the Little Waaagh spell 'Gork'll fix it' on the unit and that means most attackers will need a 6 then another 6 just to hit you!
Thanks for the reply
I think ill keep my night gobbos in horde for the most part (unless i really need more ranks in which case ill just reform). I like the idea of 40 poison attacks with a chance at getting gift of the spider god off . I know the bsb will get targetted, but if i place him on the corner of the unit with the champ next to him issuing a challenge, he should stay a little bit safe.... i hope.
Also with 6 ranks of 10 ill most likley be steadfast a lot of the time anyway. And ive got my crown of command general in case i really need to hold something up (looking at you bretonnian lance formation).
The gobbo archers are there for a few reasons
they give me some crappy deployments
they hide my lv4
they launch fanatics through the night goblin horde
they add to my fortitude for blood and glory scenario's
I know doom divers are amazing, but i dont have the models, so the archers will have to do. I also have no wolf chariots either
Savage orcs cant take a magic banner (not even big in's). and i think theyre choppy enough anyway.
Good point about the magic levels. I may try and find some points to shuffle some things around, but i think for now ill see how the lv4 performs on his own.
Also i cant give my bsb glittering scales and fencers blades as they exceed his point limit. Plus hes carrying a magic banner.
Also whats your opinion about dropping the Goblin boss on wolf for another orc chariot?
I dont normally field Savage Orcs and just assumed they could take a standard when Big uns as normal orcs can, thanks for pointing that out (i picked up 4 boxs of savages this week so I can start fielding them, glad to find out about the banner now rather than once I have played them with one!)
Upgrading your BSB to a Warboss and adding the magic items can make a huge difference, but, I guess he will be protected enough and it won't be a big issue if he has to run to the back of the unit to avoid a challenge.
It would probably be a good idea to swap out the boss on a wolf for something else. Lone models make very attractive targets and if you do put him in a unit he wont get a 'look out sir'.
I really recommend picking up some Doom divers and Wolf chariots, they are probably a couple of my favourite models to field now.
I would take out the trolls for a couple of reasons.
- they have never worked for me
- They HAVE to be with your general (unless you put the wolf mounted boss here)
- they free up enough points for a few catapults (rock lobber/ Doom diver)
