    2000 point savage orcs

    wanted to try an all savage orc list, plan is to convert the spears chuckas and doom diver to fit in, should be fun to play but not too sure how competitive it would be, any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Savage Orc Warboss - additional hand weapon, talisman of endurance - 183 (Joins Big 'uns)
    Savage Orc Great Shaman - lv 4, lucky shrunken head, fencers blades - 290 (Joins Big 'uns)
    Savage Orc Boss - Battle Standard, War boar, Wailing Banner - 166
    29 Savage Orc Big 'Uns - Shields, musician, standard - 339
    30 Savage Orcs - Additional hand weapons, full command - 305
    30 Savage Orcs - shields, spears, full command - 335
    8 Savage Orc Boar Boys - Full command, spears, shields - 211
    2 Spear Chuckas - Orc Bullies - 90
    Doom Diver - 80

    I may be wrong dont have the book to check, but the Warboss would have a 5+ Ward save anyway, would the Talisman be worth it

    Im guessing the shields are for extra cover from shooting to as they will have no extra effect in close combat, maybe use those points to up the boarboys to 10 and you have a army that could be alot of fun and cause some problems

    yeah he has a 5+ ward save, but i was working on the basis that the 2 ward saves would stack up to a 3+ save which would be very handy for a unarmoured fighty lord, or do the 2 saves not stack up?
    the shields are more for procting the boyz from missile fire but thinking about it more boar boyz can only be a good thing

    They wouldnt stack up dont think warpaint works like that

    Firslty, Ward Saves don't stack I'm afraid so grab something else with those points. Glittering Scales can be good. Why not put the Wailing banner on the Big'un unit? Then you can give your BSB something to keep him alive and you wont lose Terror if he dies. Terror isn't that great anyway. You're already immune to fear/Terror yourself so you might as well just grab another banner. Banner of flame can be good. So can the banner of discipline to make your general LD10.
    Why shields on the Big'uns? They already have a 6+ Ward from the Warpaint so there's little point in shields as a 6+Sv is ignored by most things nowadays. Go with additional choppas.

    Generally points spent on shields are better spent on more boddies. It keeps your attacks up and keeps you steadfast. Also, spears aren't as good as 2 Choppas. With 2 Choppas you always get the +1A. With Spears you only get it if you haven't charged and you haven't taken sever casualties to reduce you down to 2 ranks.

    i agree with the comments about the shields and will change the list, however the savage orc warboss can't take the magic armour as he can't be given normal armour

    The savage orc warboss can't take the magic armour as he can't be given normal armour
    Sorry dude, I'm not saying your wrong but, where does it say that? .............He can take a shield and that counts as armour anyway.

    Cant find it written anywhere the closest is the rule where Wizards cant have it, I was under the impression that if you cant take normal armour you cant have magic armour, he could take a magic shield though

    I guess if he did take armour, he would lose the warpaint bonus
