Too much Assassin's Creed, Medieval 2: total war, and Lawrence of Arabia have culminated into me wanting to modify my O&G by giving them Ottoman turk theme.
Other than calling my warboss 'Sultan' my black orcs 'Janissaries' and modeling those chichak helms and turbans with some desert colors, i'm stuck on how to get a real turkish theme across, instead of "hey look, arabian orcs!"
I saw a speed freak army a long time ago that had something of what you're describing here. But a short turban on their heads would help. If you want it to be the main theme of your army I would also suggest giving them robes, well at least some of them (after making a custom dark angels army which included all robed figures..It gets dull after a while, but the over all effect is gold).
Also Scimitars instead of choppas (the tomb kings skeletons have scimitars so if you have a friends who collects them you could ask him nicely, image reference: http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefr...ize=B&Img=8489). As for color theme I would go with a neutral color all over, robes in a yellow toned white would look natural. Bases with nothing but sand would also add to the feel.
Other general things you could do would be to sculpt two humps (or one, your choice) on some boars for any eventual boar boys. And if you make that, I want pictures since it would make me chuckle. Also the Chaos Marauders shields would look nice instead of the usual orc shields. Since they aren't flat but more bowl shaped like the arab warriors back in the days of sword fighting used to use (picture: http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefr...002&orignav=13)
Making a list, checking it twice, going to find out who's...green or not?
-Neutral whiteish colors
That's all I can think of for now...Hope it helps!
He is correct. You are describing an Arab based army, not a Ottoman. Another good, Ottoman-ish feel is the Byzantines. Look at some close-ups of them in the original Medieval: Total War game.
@Walex - I think Khopeshi is what your looking for.
