So, at my local GW store, a group of us have started to make small 1k armies, with sufficient fluff and play a swiss style tourny. There are four of us and the rules are that you have a small backstory for your band of warriors. Mine being the band of Night Gobbo's that worship the big blue moon.
So, was wondering what you guys thought on having 3 heros in a 1k list. The Entire army is made up of goblins:
x2 23 Night Gobbos w/ Spears, FC, Nets and x2Fanatics
5 Squig Hoppers
6 Spider Riders w/ Musician and Standard
1 Wolf Chariot.
The heros would be:
Level 2 Night Goblin Shaman w/ x2 Magic Mushroom and Dispel Scroll.
Level 2 Night Goblin Shaman w/ Sneaky Stealing.
Goblin Big boss on Spider w/ Light Armor, Best Basha and Enchanted Shield.
So, doya guys think thats a bit cheese?
3 Gobbos? Not at all. Some armies I would never run less than 3 heroes @ 1000 points (see Tomb Kings) and there are some that only need one. If you're having fun playing the list than that is the important thing, not what other people think.
Aye its not cheese at all i run two orc boss' and a gobbo shaman in 1k-1.5k
I think you need it for Gobbos due to their cowardice.
hmmm sorry may be a little off topic but you whats your thoughts on the giant spider Vs. Wolf for gobbo boss'?
Aside from the Armies fluff, I think the lack of M:2 is made up by the increase of the S and T and A for a gigantic spider, plus the poisoned attacks.
Points wise its very much more ofc , enough to field seven more Gobbo's, or two more spiders themselves. I'm not entirely sure what will work better and if it comes down to it, I think the model for the Gigantic spider is fantastic.
So, im not entirely sure Heh!
First, if you're going to run a goblin army I don't think that anyone could accuse you of cheese in any way shape or form. There's just no way. Second, I think that goblin armies need as many characters as they can get to give them any hope of a fighting chance, so I would say go nuts.
Aside from that the army looks pretty good, but I'll give my usual advice if you want it. I don't like spears all that much, especially on goblins where their high cost, (usually upgrade large numbers), yields a minimal return, (around 5 str 3 ws 2 attacks). I realize that your blocks are mostly going to be in combat so having the spears might help out a little, but if you were to drop them and bump the numbers up to 29 and 28 you will be more survivable overall and still save a few points to be spent elsewhere. The same advice usually goes for unit champions but it would appear that you are running a few characters in the blocks so you need them to divert challenges.
I would also recommend that you drop the sneaky staff from your mage as you already have four dispel dice and one scroll. For 1k games I often find that people tend to not bring any magic whatsoever, so the staff seems a bit overkill. You could give the shaman two mushrooms instead and again save some points.
After that I would take the standard off the spider riders as well as drop one member. These guys are best used as throw away units, (so the extra member would probably be a waste), or used as support on the flank, (where the standard is useless because the unit they are supporting will generally have a standard anyway). With all of this you have freed up enough points for some of my favorite units in the O&G army: bolt throwers. Two of these babies will offer good support for your army and give you the ability to take out the bigger stuff that we generally have trouble with like monsters or cavalry.

Anyways, we digress. I wouldn't have anything against an opponent that used three characters at 1Kpts.
However, if we were talking the old Herohammer game, then I would pull out a knife, and dye the table red if my opponent even considered using three.
I nwould recommend that you drop the giant spider and use a giant cave squig instead, it would be much more fun. You will have more people dislike the 2 lvl 2 shamans in the list over having 3 heroes total. You should be able to do well with that list, with a few of the tweaks that people suggested. And only a VC 1k list will have as much magic (or more) than you.
Heck, why not 3 NGshamans even? I have a friend who had a triad army as he puts it, and our games invariably degenerate into chaotic guffawing. Lots of mushrooms, lotsa natticz, lotza ded stufz.

Thanks for all the advice and comments it is much appreciated.
Just a few things I'd like to note:
The Gobbo's I'm using are from the Battle of Skull pass (well 40 of them) Thus sadly come with spears, otherwise The idea of dropping 46 Points towards a duet of chucka's would be perfect.
The main reason I dont wanna run three shaman's is the fact i'm very very afraid of panic tests and with Ld 5 a Trio of Night Goblin Shaman's I dont think will cut it. Similarly why I chose a Spider instead of a Squig as a mount (The extra 1 Ld), A few things I thought about was actually mounting the Boss in a chariot, would that work better instead of plonking him on a throw away unit of spiders?
Other than That I've pretty much made up my mind on dropping the standard on the spiders and also getting rid of the staff in favor of two mushrooms. Thus giving me some room to work.
