You could paint them purple with green bellies if you want. Take note that they still count as greenskins .Seriously, orcs being green was just a stereotype introduced by GW. -AFG// |

Ok, thanks! I tried it out with more of a burnt-orange University of Texas type color and i seemed to get some great results. I'm going to ink them red, I want them to be, kinda, sorta demonic... Now, just to figure out how to paint the black orcs differently...

Sounds cool, you'll have to post some pics when you've finished them. Though I do remember a LONG time ago in WD they came up with a whole load of rare sub-species, I think a fiery one might have been amongst them.

I did a whole unit of dual choppa Orc Boyz with yellow skin, so you can have fun with colours (such as human-skinned or orange gobbos). The other boyz unit'll probably be following the green stereotype but with markings on their arms. The only difference is that I have my colour scheme based on thirteen particular monsters in a book series. In terms of which book series, I'd say it's the Deltora Quest variety (and there's an Anime adaption of it moving along). |

Yeah, I'm glad this can can be done. I'm having trouble picking a color scheme now for them... Of course there is the brown for leather etc. but, the shirts and pants and skirts, I don't know what color to make them...

I seem to remember that there was a wargames club in england that came up with the idea of green orcs and gobbos. I will try and look it up - think it was some of the guys that ended up founding foundry. GW just picked up on it. Before then it was definately brown - and black orcs were ... well black. I still have some in old enamels which no amount of aclyrics will ever go over. It is amusing to play opponents younger than some of my orcs and goblins! Orange or red sounds cool though - go for it. I also remember an article on different species of gobbos in different colours. I tried orange and red but they ended up looking more metallic than flesh. I'm in the middle of painting some orcs a very blue shade of green and will try to work out adding a picture as I quite like the colour - even though it did come about from knocking the green wash flying and living in the United Arab Emirates where its not so easy to get a refill! |

Well, orcs and goblins supposedly come from fungus or something related. If you really look closed, fungus comes in every color there is. Have fun!!!!!!
