Welcome to Librarium Online!
I recently acquired a semi-large Night Goblin army from a friend. It consist of:
5 units of 20 NG Bowmen w/ Command
2 units of 20 NG Spearmen w/ Command
30 NG Spider Riders w/ Command
3 Fanatics (I plan on getting more)
4 NG Shamans
4 NG Bosses
1 Skarsnik and Gobbla
1 Spear Chukka
And 1 metal NH model with a 2-handed single spiked club. (Guess a boss as well)
I want to try a Goblin army for a bit before trying to add some Orcs into it and in addition to this I think the most sensible step would be to add some Wolf Chariots. Are wolf chariots something worthwhile to have in an army or should I add more artillery and just pimp out my bosses?
Depends who your opponents are........
v's high elves, yes they are great
v's vampire counts not very good.
You'll probably find your wolf chariots more than 12" from your general. They have Ld 6, so charging undead is difficult.
Saying that though, i have 6, so yes i think they are great (just not against fear/terror causing units)
Id say a couple of Wolf Chariots are definitely worthwhile. Fast, and the S5 impact hits can hit hard. All around better than the Orc version lol.
I'd go for the artillery, sure it can be a bit erratic, but can be very deadly, and is a lot cheaper than equivalents of other races.

I'd say that the most important thing to remember about chariots is that they have to break the opposition on the turn that they charge as they are likely to break against a ranked up unit on the second turn of combat. This means that they shouldn't go it alone against ranked up units. They either charge in groups of chariots or along side a ranked up unit.
Keep your chariots near a goblin warboss and you have ld 8 (72% chance of successful test). I believe NG warboss is ld 7 (56% chance of successful test). With the 18 " charge range they can get the jump on most enemy units, but they need to go in groups of two or more chariots to be effective again ranked up units. The higher their ld the more likely it is that they will go in together (against fear/terror causing) as you have to check separately for each chariot.

So here is a question on the same lines (ish), can a night goblin boss/shaman ride in a chariot? It says that only night gobbos can ride a cave squig but what about night gobbos on wolves/chariots/gig spiders. Same question extends to magic items labeled goblins only, can night gobbos take them?

No, Night Goblin characters can't ride in chariots. If you think about it, it makes sense. They are underground with rocks everywhere. The chariot would be smashed up
When it says "goblin only" on a magic item it means all types of goblins. So, yes to your question
I love gob chariots. As well as the reasons above they are great towards the end of the game due to the directions they can move - picking up VPs and taking out stragglers and any surviving crews etc.
Spear Chukkas are great value too.
Big question you have to ask is are you going to go more aggressive with all those bosses or be more shooty with the shaman options that you have.
