Hello people, could i ask your advice please?
I've got a 4,000 pnt game coming up v's Tomb Kings, and i'm not sure whether to take an Orc Lord on a Wyvern or a Great Shaman.
So far for my Lord choices i'm taking an Orc Great Shaman, and a Black Orc general on foot. Obviously the extra Great Shaman will help with magical defence, and could also mean i get into combat quickly (helps against screaming skulls, and the giants unstoppable charge)
He has 2 or 3 undead giants. The Wyvern and rider will be great at killing his Giants (and also chariots with a great axe), but i think he might take the special character that makes all his archers have poisonous arrows, so it's risky. I'm planning on charging as many of his archers on turn 2 with lots of wolf riders (they can't stand and fire)
Other possible ways i can take care of his giants will be bolt throwers, or possibly a Waaagh spell charge. (however, those two don't mix very well)
Which would you choose, a Wyvern or another Great Shaman?
For the Orc on the wyvern i was thinking either;
Biggeds boots kickin' (+1 attack, x5 str7 attacks)
Armour of Gork (T 6) and shield (5+ armour save)
Collar of Zorga ................ total 411 points
Biggeds boots kickin' (+1 attack)
Warboss Umm's Best Boss 'At (5+ward save)
Enchanted shield and hvy armour (3+ armour save)... he'd have to be a black orc
......total 426 points
Best boss 'at/amulet of protectyness
VERY nasty! Trust me.
I forgot you don't get +2 str when mounted....... so on 2nd orc maybe ulags axrit axe instead
That's why i was going for the 3+ armour save, but even then i think they might down. Those archers can wheel around and shoot at long range, still hitting on 5's, and get extra shots in the magic phase.
Having thought about it a little more, it may actually be a better idea to just take a GS on foot/boar and stick him in a unit, due to the immunity of terror. It also might be an idea to take the highest point arcane item (idol of gork?) that gives DD to REALLY shut down his magic phase.
I was going to have a BSB with morks spirit totem as well
DO IT! I'd like to see them magickify you through that!
I would suggest you take orc Great Shaman level 4, on Wyvern (the terror means that don't scare you) the skull wand, waagh paint, and the collar of zorga.
This guy could fly charging things in the rear, it'll take at least three volleys of poison arrows before you start to feel it, they hit on fives, wound on 6's, and they are randomized between rider and mount, so I woulden't worry. Once hes in combat he'll do better at spell casting, the wyvern can get to work, and if you charge a giant it will only hit you on 6's. Hopefull with the skull wand/wyvern combo it won't get any swings at you at all, but if he does he'd have a hard time hitting the shaman, and probably woulden't kill a wyvern in one round.
Overall he will do more than just kill a giant, I predict if you're agressive you might kill two in close combat, and thats not counting the havok he will cause in the magic phase.
With the collar the 6's to hit are only if the bone giant hits the rider, but saying that i am tempted by yours and ArtificiallyEnhanced wyvern ideas. If i can overrun and stay in combat, or use terrain to block his LoS the wyvern spellcaster can do alot of damage. Plus i do love the model
So maybe a Black Orc general on foot, a Night Goblin Great Shaman (just for Mork wants ya against a bone giant) and an Orc Great Shaman on wyvern (could take biggeds boots kickin with the skull wand for two Ld or die tests)

It depends how many arrows he's up against. At 4k points, thats an awful lot of arrows. And I think you're underestimating the giants. Of course, you could always pack out the night gobbos and fanatics and take Skarsnik and Gobbla!
I think the wyvern is actually a bit of a risk in this game. An orc GS is still better than a NG GS though IMO.
