First off, anyone who wants to post their lists for hints and tweaks feel free.
I like orcs, more than gobo's. i cant stand painting the little buggers. So i field a large amount of orcs. my army works like a meat grinder, units get caught by too many boys n black orcs
20 boyz shield command
20 boyz spear shield command
20 bigun savage boys 2choppaz command +1 attack banner (1use)
20black orcs shield command
and the rest is usually split between boars n chariots.
Its a march n squish army that for some reason works out very well. The savage boys u throw at any kind of fear / terror unit the enemy has, especially good for str6+ units, the ward save is more than regular orcs get. Their attacks are through the roof aswell, the unit of Bigun savage boys with 2chops and the banner have 16 ws4 str5 attacks. ive seen them mince minotaurs, giants, cavalry, dwarves and even chaos warriors. Im wondering if anyone has more takes on an orky army. everyone in my area that plays OnG's plays goblin armies. i feel so left out lol. im one of 2 people that even field orcs. and mine are red!
Hmm, that a very blunt base for a list, but it looks like it could be very effective.
It'd be helpful to see what you take for characters.
I think you might struggle against cavalry heavy armies like brettonians or strong defensive based dwarf armies.
Im not a fan of trolls, but they seem to fit your force quite well...
There are plenty of other takes on the O&G list.
I tend to go with a magic and war machine heavy approach with mostly orc infantry.
There's as you've stated the all goblin lots of fanatic approach.
Or the wyvern plus all cavalry approach.
Or the "balanced approach".
Or the no animosity approach.
Or the tournament army approach.
Or the All Savage orc approach.
Im sure i've missed some.
for heroes i take a pretty static approach. a warboss with basic magic items, akrit axe or best basha, with ha / shield for the good armour save. then a dispel jockey. bobsb with mork spirit banner and magic is defended for the most part.
i love savage orcs, they can do serious damage imo and are awesome. who doesnt want a frenzied, tattooed, ward save orc! what i hate is there isnt even a damn lord / hero model for S.orcs. i had to convert an ogre hunter model, looks awesome tho
