Welcome to Librarium Online!
hi guys im pretty new to warhammer and have just been playing afew games with the skull pass goblins. Im thinking of adding to these to work towards a 1000+ army.
Im wondering what's the best units to add cost wise. i'd like to get the battalion box but it doesn't seem to add too much i need to my gobbos.
I was thinking of adding a unit of orc boyz with a orc warboss leading them and picking up a spear chucka for some extra ranged damage.
Any suggestions on what would make a good starting point from the skull pass set will be much appreciated.
will you be wanting a balanced (orc and goblin) or an all night goblin (lots of unpredictable fun) list?
if it's the second then I recommend another bfsp set that way all you really need is a box or three of fanatics,
also withthe cannons you can convert them into spear chukkas by just sticking a spear in it.
hope this helps
That sounds like a good plan so far. SCs are dirt cheap for what they do. A nice big mob of boyz, or two, would do well in any army, especially a unit of big uns. Apart from that, maybe an orc shaman?
for the moment i'm looking at a balanced army, an all ng army looks fun but i've heard it's pretty hard to win with (i'm still keeping an eye out on ebay and such for anyone selling off their goblin side).
converting the dwarf cannon into a spear chucka is a very good idea and once i pick up some green stuff i'll probably do that to add in.
A question about the orc boys pack, on the games workshop site it says it has a "big boss" but his stats look just like a champions, im guessing you can't substitute him and say he is your warboss and use a warbosses stats?
i'm not looking to add too many orcs but i do want an orc general for leadership tests and such.
i'm also wondering if i'm going for a mix and adding in some orc boys should i also buy some ng fanatics and add a fanatic to my ng spear guys instead of the 2 standard bearers they come with?
Spears are best in units of 30+. Fanatics are a must. Orc bosses are useful for their Ld, its not grea but its better than a gobbo's! You 'can' make a general from the boyz box, I would have no objections to it and I doubt that any opponents would mind.
Definitely take the standard out of the archers though. Another box of NG is useful just to flesh out the spears with extra men/nets and give the archers a 20th guy in place of the standard.
at the moment my spears are 25 strong (added 10 from the starter paint kit).
i haven't read the entire greenskins army book yet so i'm not too sure what exactly netters add?
They decrease a stat of something attacking them. Its very useful in a NG combat unit and works out at about a point a model for large units.
Another, unorthadox, strategy (I've never heard of it being used) is to put a NG big boss (BFSP one would work) on a chariot (you can scratchbuild one from balsa wood and the bit order wolves on the GW site), give him the brimstone bauble, send him off, racing at the enemy, charge them, resolve the impact hits, do your round of combat, and because he has no armor and a rather low WS, he'll probobly get himself killed, activating the brimstone bauble, causeing a whole lotta trouble for the enemy unit/character.
