alrighty, i am lookin into the orc race and they seem pretty fun to play as. I play orks in 40k so i am familiar with running a army with bad armor saves and reallying on melee alot. However, the main thing bugging me is animosity. How can this army run if the army faces a good chance of turning on itself due to a bad dice rolls? how do you control animosity so your armies dont fall apart?
somethin just bugs me that the army fights itself.........
No words of advice...?
There's only a few ways to avoid animosity and thats mainly having a Black Orc Warboss or Big Boss as they have a speical rules to prevent it at the cost of D6 hits other than cant really think of much else (been a while since ive played with my Gobbos) but one way around it is to have so many units that if one or two squbble it dosnt really affect you as you have 'lots more where they came from!'
also having a few units that dont have animosity is alwyas helpfull but not always something to relay on
just a couple thoughts

Animosity is just something you have to deal with, but if you have a lot of units it becomes less of a problem. You can, of course, use magic too to give a speed boost to those units that fall behind.

I would say animosity can be much less of a problem at lower points costs. In my 1k point army, i only have to worry about 2 units with animosity, 25 night gobbos with a fanatic and 2 squig herd teams. I take a black orc big bosss who goes in a unit of orcs and my 10 blorcs house an orc shaman. There are 3 trolls who stay next to the general for Ld8 and a spear chukka. It's a fun army really and when animosity does strike i usually dont care and i think a blase attitude is what will affect your opponent's psychology. If they laugh when you roll a few 1s, just laugh with them, it's unerring. However, if you want to win every game by a massacre then really just don't play O&G. If animosity is such a big deal to you then just play a different army. Have fun
the thing is that i keep hearing from various people that both animosity and low leadership really hurt the army. any comments in regards to this?
1) black orcs obviously are a way to cut down on it.
2) there are magic items that lessen the effect of animosity.
3) usage of Trolls (replacing animosity for Stupidity) or Giants units to lessen your need of regular boyz units.
4) war machines are not affected by animosity, ensure that you have enough to fill slots your army HAS to have.
5) use dog's of war to replace animosity prone units on the battle field.
That is about all I can think of to cut down on animosity.
If you want a competitive army that can go toe-to-toe against Daemons and 'Counts in the grand tournaments then I suggest that you look for another army (like, Daemons or VC ).
Animosity is just something you have to live with. Blorc bosses can stop it at the cost of some damage and it's about the only way. It's just how the O&G roll.

Animosity is a good and a bad thing. I usually try to make a battle plan that revolves around multiple units, so there isn't really any trouble when one or two get stopped or rush forward from animosity.
In fact, I enjoy it. It's just another random aspect to my army, like fanatics or squighoppers.
Honestly, it "seems" like it would make your battle plans all kinds of screwy, and some times it does, most of the time it doesn't. Squable is the one that screws you up the most, which is only 1 in 6. If you surge you can just not use your full movement and let everyone else catch up to keep your battle line. But once you get into CC and start smashing and over running then you don't have to worry about it any more :-D
