Welcome to Librarium Online!
So a 1250 doubles is coming up and I was thinking about bringing 60 black orcs. But before I went and purchased more I wanted to know what you guys thought?
60 Black Orcs would truely be a terrifying opponent, no question about that. It depends on whom you are going up against, of course. That would definitely alter your deployment strategy depdinign on whom you are going up against.
Um, obviously it would cost you some points, most of them I think.
that sounds nasty. although you could get roughly 7 units of 21 night gobbos with two fanatics in each for the same cost
Ironically...I play pure NG normally. I'm thinking for a grimgor army though 60-80 black orcs would be a fun 2000. Most of your points but hey, would be fun.
I don't like Black Orcs enough to spend that much money/pts on them. A unit of 20 would be the max for me. 60 to 80... If I fought you with that many black orcs I just woudn't engage with them till I had a tactical advantage. With a ton of your pts tied up in at a few blocks of inf I would say that there may be a few advantages to be had.But then again Orcs is all 'bout the smash'n...

Baby boys are like free bulldozer rental tickets. You have no idea what you're going to do with them but you know they are awesome!
well 60 black orcs plus the general takes up most of your armies points. you still need some minimum core units, i imagine units of 10 goblins out front to serve as fodder will be there as well.
If I knew I were going up against your O&G army but did not see this posibillity coming.....using my Skaven......
In theory my standard "vs the Orcs" deployment would be to play in the middle of my deployment zone, as I know the Orc's are coming after me to win (and vice versa) but would want a little room so I have time to put my fodder/slaves in position to serve their role as speed bumps. They would be at the very front of my deployment zone.
So in theory, using small unit of goblins with bows would probably outclass or least be equal too, my skaven slaves I would have up there, be a match for Rat Swarms and Giant Rat's I might have up too.
yikes, I would probably be a little "HUH" when I saw that as most of my tactics I had in my head would be gone.
This army could suffer vs highly manuevarable armies......even the Skaven would have a good chance at hitting you in the front and flanks at the same time and I could see the possibility that I might be able to hit you in the front with my StormVermin/Screaming Bell combo; with a unit of Rat Ogres coming down on one flank and a unit of Plague Monks hitting you on the other, all in the same round.
Would be our only chance in theory.
60-80 black orcs leaves you with ~4 units. That really isn't enough. I large unit of Blorcs, 1 unit of big 'uns, and then either MSU spam or gobbo spam.
GMJS, you have to have units of 20 gobbos or greater.

Ok, so I that runs about 40 points and if you need 3 Core Units, then there are 120 points gone, plus your general that you HAVE to have; whatever is left is the Black Orcs?
I'd need to see a real list with 60 black orcs in it to really dissect it.
I played it yesterday (tested really) against pur khorne daemons and got stomped miserably =(. By turn 2 I didnt have any characters left thanks to skull taker challenging them out and killing blow a million times.
It probably wasn't the best army to test it on, since they're better at combat than me, in fact the only combat I won was 15 black orcs on the flank. Either way I'm still toying around with orcs & Goblins figure out what makes them tick .
