I made a 3000 point list and started wondering.
I believe it had something like this:
Grimgor (torn on using special characters or not)
Great shaman orc
1 goblin and 1 night goblin shaman (to get sneaky stealing and the shrooms)
and a BSB
I think this ended up around 1100 points or so.
I'm not playing Orcs & Goblins, but plan on doing so in the near future. Is over a third of the army in characters to much or what?
Personally I'd say that's not as bad as it could be and it still leaves you enough points to take some big strong units. As long as you don't take too many expensive units you could easily build a large army from that base.
as long as you're characters are doing something useful that much is fine. For O&G I dont think characters are as important for the army as some armies have it, but you're general gives a brilliant Ld boost so you need to keep him alive, and magic defense is usually important. After that extra characters can help giving Ld to units out of range of the general and give combat res buy killing gitz. So yeah characters are always good. I spose one way of looking at it in general is as 2 armies of 1500, and 500 points isn't that much if you see it that way. On the other hand, beyond a solid general and magic defense you could still have a very strong army by having as few characters as possible and more independent threats. More of a personal preference really
Thank you guys.
I've got a good idea/wishlist for an army, but it won't be aprox 3000 points. Warboss' hut next then?
