So, after several hours of frustration I have assembled the gigantic spider with goblin boss on it without the aid of pinning or any other such handy tools. I was looking at the unit strength chart only to realise that he is not unit strength 5 but infact unit strength 4. My plan of using him to back up units of goblins with flank charges are now dashed and I need a new use for him because after the amount of time it took to build him I will find a use :p
So any ideas for uses? He will likely be my general too and im not decided between big boss, great shaman, shaman and BSB or Warboss, 2x shaman and BSB so any ideas on that front are also appreciated
Goblin on spider as a general? I guess you play goblins only, right?
Then you will need his LS in the middle of your horde. So I´d put him into one of the big units in the centre and tool him up for unit support.
But to be honest I never used one myself because I don´t own the model (yet). When I have it he won´t be my general. I would use him in a big spider unit as "medium cavalry".
I wouldn´t use him as a shaman because shamans don´t need THAT big spiders But it could be fun anyway.
I've got plans of scratch building one(after my greenstuff slan and dwarvern artillery is completed) and using him as a Goblin Bigboss, since my Goblin Warboss is taking a wolf. He will likely be carrying the army banner as well. I really like that model, but it's a tad pricey and I don't imagine a spider is hard to model. I'd rather spend the money on the new-goblin hypnotized, boar boys and maybe those dashing trolls.
It would probably fit best with other spiders to lend some more hitting power, or as a warmachine hunter?
i didint mind making the model, it was a pain but i like it alot and while it is a little pricey in terms of money, such is the woe of playing a goblin army :p
I might try and him into a unit of spider riders to make him high enough unit str to flank and use him as i had originally intended. just means i have to spend a further 75 pts on spider riders or remove one of the 5 man units from the flank (Seeing as i only pointed for 2 lots of 5 in 2k, i like them more than the wolves). If I do that, is it worth adding a champ and banner to the unit? I wouldn't normally bother with 5 guys but the champ could save my general's BEE-Hind, a fragile behind at that and the standard will make the unit a bit better as a flank (seeing as the +1 for a stick stacks iirc).
I figure, the character rising him shouldn't be your general as your spiders are needing to get into risky situations. The command you'd be adding seems like too many points in a fragile unit in my opinion.
true, but i figure being my highest Leadership character doesn't actually give me a choice.
that is of course, unless I drop my BSB, which seems like a dubious plan.
Why is the spider rider your highest LS character? Are all others shamans?
If you don´t like him to be in one of the spider units, put him into one of your big infantry blocks.
yea. most people would freak out when they see a 1 foot spider, i dont see why an 8 foot shelobsized spider is no scary
