Welcome to Librarium Online!
Leave em how they are!
Additional hand weapon.
Shilds and Spears
Big Un's with some other combination
So, with the new book out comes lots of new players (including myself). After searching the forms endlessly I couldn't find any discussion on this subject. So how do you equip your boyz with the new book?
Or leave em how they are?
Thanks for any feedback and support.
Big uns with choppa and shield. A second unit of boys with double hand weapons. Spears i like to leave for the weedy gobbos (and Lord Borak hehe) , orcs like to get up and in your face so lets keep it that way

Wow, that was stupid the exact question is asked about 5 pages down, I'm sorry LO and mods please forgive me stupidity!
the most votes were for shields and spears, I'm still trying to look for a reason to use these as i have some models. The only thing i see better than extra weapons is the extra armour, but for an extra point is it really worth it? I would like for someone to explain.
I like shield and choppa - ward save and cheap-ish.
I don't like the spears that much - i'd rather do twin choppa, get the extra attack on the charge (or flanks etc) and still save points.

Shields? ~ A HUGE unit to place a BSB, or such, in doesn't sound like a bad idea. That ward save ( in CC ), makes them that much harder to get rid of.
Spears? ~ Chariots and HUGE mobs of goblins. With the horde rule, a goblin mob can produce a truck~load of spears in CC. ( 3 ranks? )
AHW? ~ Darn right! Charge, charge, charge! The bonus helps get the jump on armored troops as well. There's nothing like the thought of savage orc boar boy riding into battle, holding on by their knees and toenails, whooping while swinging two choppas wildly.
Big'uns? ~ Never used this upgrade, since I prefer cramming in as many greenskins as I can ;D

Alternative question: what do you want your orc infantry to do?
Tarpit/Anvil: give them shields and ranks.
Combat: 2 choppas and Big 'uns (though for a combat core choice, Savage Orcs are a better option).
I like a horde of big uns with choppas and shields. Think they are one of the more economical and effective hordes in fantasy, and if you buff them up they can really bring the pain.
I run normal orcs generally just with shields, but I might run a couple units with spears and shields to see how it works out with the clever new choppa rules.
@thetopcat84 : I just want my orcs to help form a solid infantry line, around which i can barrage my oppo with magic and shooting. The horde of big uns is generally the rock around which it is built.
