Hello my name is Tim and I am a new Orc & Gobblin player and I am just settling into the books and am starting my first O&G army! Now my question concerns animosity.. This rule is funny and in light hearted games an all around good time but does it hurt more than help?? does it hold the army back, or is it a slight flaw to counter balance our numerous strengths?
Also would it be worth adding a low cost BLorc big boss in units of boys to create more consistency, or is the cost not worth it, although I feel that adding one to a unit of boar boys may be worth while to avoid scuffling when you are all set up for the charge... tell me you thoughts and Tips to gain control of you rowdy horde. Thanks in advance!!!
Let me start off by saying welcome to the OGs. They are one of the most diverse armies out there and can be built for just about anything you want them to do. They are unpredictable at best, and they can either destroy your enemy or run away in a green tide off the table. As far as animosity goes, it's gonna hurt you sometimes, help you others and annoy you the rest. You can add black orcs to quell but you're limited on how many you can take and they do get expensive. You can space your units far apart so they don't charge each other and take 2 units out that turn by fighting each other. Most of us live with it and thank Mork(or Gork) when everything falls into place and we don't wipe ourselves out.
I'd imagine that yes, Animosity is both a flavourful addition to the army as well as a balancing factor, if you had a model with similar abilities without Animosity they probably would be more expensive points-wise than our units. That being said, if there are units that I absolutely -need- to stay focussed (e.g., a unit with a high level Wizard in it and so forth) I'll put in a Blorc boss to keep things somewhat civil. It really does hurt when you've paid 300+ points for a Wizard and he can't do anything because you rolled that fateful 1.
