Welcome to Librarium Online!
Goblin Shaman costs 5 pts lower then Night Goblin Shaman Orc Shaman is 5 points more then a night goblin shaman and Savage Orc Shaman is 2 points more then an orc shaman. But you probably want to get Lvl2 upgrade, which costs the same price for all.
Orc shamen are tougher, and, more importantly, they have higher Leadership. To my mind, if you want to play Shamen and pass that dreaded leadership tests, you should always prefer Orc shamen. Savage Orc Shaman can even purchase a Warpaint which can sometimes protect him against lord-hunters.
What do you think about it? Do I misinterpret any rules?
As you said: Goblin shamans are cheaper.
The extra LD on orcs doesn't really matter, since all your basic orc troops are LD7 anyway!
And Night goblin shamans can get power mushrooms, which are very useful.
Asw wickedrock said gobbo shamens are cheaper for the smae number of powerdice and night goblins can have Powa mushrooms and equibing common goblin shamens with staff of sneaky stealing is sooo funny when you cast brain bursta , with no dispelkl scrolls left

Also, please don't post exact point costs, Its againts the rules. I will almost always take gobbo shamans as they are less points gone when their head invetibly explodes
I use both Orc shamans and night goblin shamans. I don't like Savage Orc Shamans Due to frenzy. ( "Alright, my Shaman have to charge your Dragon. Great!" )
We Norwegians are a simple folk. We just use a new dialect every two miles.
Sorry for violating the rules about point costs... but they are in each army list on this forum, aren't they?
Can my Orc Shaman join any unit (i.e. a unit of Trolls) or he can join only Orc unit? Trolls would benefit from a good Leadership...
Can my Shaman be a General? In a low-cost army I wouldn't like to use expensive melee warlords. If my Shaman is a General, his Leadership would be precious, so I'd definitely prefer Orc Shaman for this.
Yes he can join other units, the only ones he can't IIRC is a swarm. And the model with the highest LD is the general, unless some other rule says otherwise.
I play night gobbo shamans whenever I can to use their extra mushroom (or extra d3 mushrooms if they're a Great Shaman) for power dice boosts. Orc ones do have added tougness, but they're equally dead meat if they're caught alone or in CC.
The iron crowned is getting closer,
Swings his hammer down on him,
Like a thunderstorm he's crushing,
Down the Noldor's proudest king.
Under my foot, so hopeless it seems.
You've troubled my day, now feel the pain.
