    Goblins

I planned on just playing Empire but I realized since Iwas getting the starter box anyway why not do some Orcs and Goblins too since they were one of my top choices anyway.

My question is why does everyone use Night Goblins? I like the fluff but I really dont like the models and like the common ones better. If I use them will my army be weak or something? I was thinking of getting a box of 20 goblins after I finsih putting together my starter box.

Equiping goblins with spears is best right?

People don't use regular goblins because they don't really do anything. They are just really cheap guys you can get with low leadership. Night goblins can get fanatics which are really fun and haven't been excluded from any orc and goblin army I've seen. In addition to the squigs and netters. They are just a choice with a lot more options is what it is. i've never used regular goblins but kind of wanted to do an all goblin army with them some of them.

    Hope this helps.

Night goblins are slighty differnt than normal gobbos, I think they're 1 point more for -1 LD and +1 I.

Now the thing is they have fanatics (whiriling maniacs of doom with giant ass chain balls capable of cleaving through choas knights like a hot knife through better) which is more than enough reason to take em ^_^

    Normal Gobbos are cheaper.

I'd use gobbos to add a supporting unit to orc units and orc elites, they add number and even more combo resolution to a combat. They can also be bait, unit holders (Although they kinda suk at this), and/or flank chargers.

Night gobbos make the best bait (Fanatics).

If you want an all gobbo army, yes it will be weak, but you get 500+ models (and nightmares about painting all of them :p).

I like to balance, some orcs (hitting power) and some gobbos (Tricks and numbers), they didn't call it orcs and goblins for nothing you know

About equipping gobbos there is a gobbo tactica online, although it refers to goblin hordes you could still apply the principles to your army.

After pulling the Army book out from under my sleeping freind (On the coffie table, she isnt the wisest of my freinds) and comparing them I really think night goblins are the best way to go, but still I dont like the models all that much.

If I was going to do a all goblin army then I would have 1 unit of them with my common goblins but since I'm buying the starter box I'm stuck with Orks anyway.

I guess its not that bad. I could get 2 units of goblins, 1 common and either another common or night goblins. Those fanatics look good in stats.

PS: Ok so I'm eating breakfast (Me and some others sleeped over at this freinds house who is sleping on the coffie table) and shes crazy. She buys her cerial at the bulk barn by buying a huge tubs of oats and almonds and dried fruit then mixes it and puts in it cereal box she printed off the internet. Its a Life cerial Box but its been photoshoped to say "Lain" in sted and its says "Cerial Exparaments" above it lol, with a picture of Lain in the background.

A goblin horde few a orc units would be a good idea. The orcs and gobbo wolf chariot would make good line breakers while the gobbos provide the bulk of the army.

Common gobbos are good cause they cheap, hence the horde aspect. Take a few units of them and then the more specialised night gobbos. YOu can make em hard grots by giving em a hand wep, light armor, and shield. For 4 points a pop you get average stats and a 4+ save, itsa steal ^_^

I'd reconmend a black orc warlord cause gobbo combat heroes (NG or otherwise) are pathetic ld although they have decent stats and cost the same as a spear chukka ^_^

Night gobbo shamans are risky, but insanly good.

What do you suggest for the size of the average unit of them? 20?

20? Hell no all gobboa die easily and they need to keep they're rank bonus other wise they lose combat and test on their pathetic leadership. I say 25-30

Night gobbos should have 1 or 2 fanatics each (this is y you're taking em after all).

orcs should be good with 16-20

    black orcs 10-20

I agree with most of the above. Night Goblins should come in units of 30 though, with 3 fanatics. I usually go with HW&shield, because the Night Gobo's are their to release the fanatics and soak up the casaulties with magic and missiles throw at the Shaman's in their units.

Orcs i find 20 are about right, 19+1 hero (use borgut if using gobo's because his leadership is 9.)
Black Orcs 10-20 is fine, because any more just get in the way, units of 10 struggle due to casaulties.
    Wolf riders to flank
Spear chukkas for hurling pointy logs that occassional do something.

Oh and that cereal thing... that's just strange....

funn you mention thAt cause i just sorta got over my night goblin list , everyone has night goblins lists now with the regular 10 powerdice and heaps of fanatics , so iv made a common goblin horde last night i will post my list up in the army lists section in a min, but i really thought that common gobbos suckedyet they are awesome in huge numbers and having good magic and arnt quite as bad as night goblins, i always give two units light armour for a 4+ save in combat but never give em spears keep em cheap , then ni have about 6 units of 50 goblins with just full command , and even them can kick alot of butt.

Fifty goblins.... outnumber, standard, rank bonus probably on every combat. starting with that amount of combat resolutation definitely is nice
