Does anyone besides me think that the choppa rule is not the greatest rule out there? I mean i like the extra point for strength but still. I just dont understand why u dont get the defense bonus from a shield in CC if a orc is armed with a choppa. I mean theres even a story and a picture on pages 140 and 141 of the warhammer rulebook, in the story it shows and tells about a orc using a shield to block an attack....and that doesnt look like a small sword or spear in that orc's hand its a choppa. And anyway orcs need to have a better strength value i think because those arms orcs have r freakin huge! Well thats just me.
P.S. Dont think i hate playing with orcs and goblins because of this. Because i love playing as orcs and goblins their funny, unprodectable and they love to fight which is why i got them and why they were my first warhammer army ever...orcs and goblins rule!
I agree to. What a weird rule. All a Choppa is basically a hand weapon that gives a strength bonus so why cant u use a shield with. And Orcs need to be a little stronger in strength. A Orc looks as big as a chaos warrior
Orks WOULD be S 4, if it weren't an issue of balance. Regular boys could (and fluffwise, defnitely should) get boosten to S 4, but that would be a considerable increase in points, and there aren't to many people willing to put that many points into a model that dies as easily as Orcs.
They dam well should be S4.
But then theyd be like 8-10 pts per model without exquiment. So pretty expensive as u said
Think the choppa rule comes from a choppa is a rough piece of metal which is supposed to be so unwieldy that its just for attacking. That way Orc players can't claim the +1 handweapon/shield bonus. I figure its fair, you get +1 off the charge for strength anyway, and orcs are dirt cheap for what they do you have to admit. Toughness 4 regular troops with choppa, light armor and shields are wonderful in my book!
If you really want them str 4, play hard boys and make them all big uns... course your outnumbered then, still don't get the hw/shield save.... but your St4 and hard as nails.
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
Choppas in my opinion look like big fat rusty buchers knifes
Ya. I like to think of a Choppa as kinda a great weapon - Sheilds don't work, but you get a nice strength bonus. The diference is that the extra strength only on the charge, and that's instead of an extra attack.
You know what would really be scary? Yeah. I know that you know that i know that you know that i know what i'm thinking:
War Titans for 40k. Muahahahaha! They'd be like 50,000 points.
(This rambling brought to you by too much Caffiene)
Space Marines - 1/0/0
Night Gobbos - 1/0/0
Well i would be willing to spend a few more points on orcs even if they die to easily. Besides dont alot of troops in warhammer have nothing but a shield and light armour, correct me if im wrong, and some of them do die as easily or easier then orcs and they cost more. And yes i think orcs are a great deal considering their point value, toughness 4 and extra strength, for only 5 points thats awesome!

i like to use my orcs with an additional hand weapon cause they look more orky and fight better.
yeah i like to use additional weapon too because other wise you get few attacks expecially with the larger bases and i think an extra attack per model is more worth it than an extra S if we charge
lets agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours are
