Hey all, i was going to start orcs a while ago, but i decided not to then it came back to me again when i heard there was a new campaign going on, so far i have:
1 reg of orc boys
1 box of boar boys
and 1 messed up orc chariot which needs a lot of fixing if im gonig to play it
Im getting my codex today i think, anyways, i have assembled them all so far i armed my warboss on boar with shield and choppa, my other one on foot as snagateef hedhaka as seen on the canadian website, my orc mob with full command w/ shields and spear and my boar boys with full command.
Here are a few questions :
Are boar boys good in units of ten or am i better off haveing 2 seperate 5 man units with full command.
And is spears/shields better than choopa/shield or 2xchoopas?
What else should i get for an all orc army? i know im gonig to get blakc orcs and some arrer boys.
Thanks Trooper Outt""
Help on this?
Oh by the way i might get the old battalion box just for more orcs, ill probably sell the wolf riders and warboss.
Thanks everyone for the help given, out of 24 peopel no one decided to help, truly sad people.....
I wouldn't sell the wolf riders, they are far too useful for hunting war machines, baiting charges and flank charging units. Fast cavalry are great, especially when they are so cheap in points terms.
Choppa and shield is pretty reasonable as it gives your boyz a 4+ save in combat and strength 4 in the first round of combat. Spears have their uses as you can fight in more than one rank.
The main thing is how you want your army to look and play. If you want a horde army them get loads of foot slogging boyz. Boarboyz now cost a lot of points so be careful about having 10 of them as it is a point sink.
Arrer boyz are ok, Rugluds boyz are better though as they use crossbows. Black orcs rock, but again use a lot of points.

Thank you for your help ( =D FINALLY someone decided to give me help +REP! )
The reason being for selling the wolf riders is because im doing an all orcs army, wer'z da grot'z at? Rugluds boys are getting harder and harder to obtain other than doing that direct service garbage that will take a month or 2. Im finding that a mob of 25 orcs with full command and two choppas are very useful, so ill try to invest in that.
Thanks for your contribution to this thread
2x choppas all the way they give a front rank of 5, 11 attacks at str 4 in the first round it smashes many units. Orcs dont need an armour save anyway so screw sheilds.
Definatly go with a unit of 10 boar boyz that way you will get a rank and wont get shot to death as easy.
Dont be put off by point cost of black orcs again with two hand weapons produce 11 str 5 attacks in the first round if you have 5 in a rank.
Have fun with ya orcs

You could also select a unit of boyz as biguns on foot so when they have 2 choppas you are delivering strength 5 attacks in the first round of combat, pretty nasty.
Will you be getting any shamans? Orcs now use the big waagh magic and that is quite lethal.
Can you not get Rugluds boyz from the US website? I keep forgetting how spoiled I am living in the UK and having everything available within days.
If you do have black orcs then it is normally worth equipping them with shields rather than normal boys. It gives them a great range of options for combat as they already have the options of 1 choppa, 2 choppa's or a great weapon. If you give them a shield they have a save of 3+ in combat which is worthwhile as you have already invested a lot of points in them.

FYI-don't get Ruglads. First, they are really nice models, and they seem to paint up really nice. However, they really are expensive for what they do. Plus you can easiliy convert Ruglad's out of orcs. I've actuallly seen some nice ones made out of old Arrer Boys-plastic ones. Basically you trim down the bow and make big orcie style crossbows.
If you also debating boar boys and blacks orcs don't buy them. Buy 10 command sprues for 5 bucks a piece and 10 boars. It will run you $80. Then you can assemble 10 boar boys from the command pieces, as well as 20 black orcs with a little help from the regular orc box which you probably have. This way you can actually represent your black orcs as armed to the teef as well as not have them all have the same pose, and they are plastic. You have $20 remaining on the 100 you probably would have spend and you also have 10 more black orcs and 5 more boar boys.
This gets you double the figures for HALF the cost. With the $20 remaining buy the Warboss box as you now have the following for $105.
1 Battle standard or Banner for the black orcs
10 Boar boys with command
20 black orks with command
I can't take credit for it, its in the sticky post for saving money. The only part I added was the price breakdown and adding the warboss box as with the extra points you can easily make additional Big Bosses as you need.
