If you are starting out, this is the thread to read. I am hereby asking all seasoned Orcs&Goblins players to come forth with their thoughts on starting an Orcs&Goblins army.
The purpose of this topic is to preven a swarm of "hi, im new to O&G. Got any starter tips?" and "What units should I get?" type posts, and gather all such stuff riiiight in here.
So, new aspireing Warbosses, feel free to ask questions about starting an Orcs&Goblins army in this topic, and all Warbosses who knows their army well, feel free to share your ideas on starting such a force with the new kids.
All other posts that i feel should belong in this topic, will be deleted.
use orc boyz to kill the enemies units.
use charoits to destroy the warmachines
dont use any goblins!!!
(i only use then as bait )
i hope i've helped you a bit..
Well the 1st things 1st - orcs are probably the BEST army for those people who dont have to win all the time, but just like to have a fun game. Orcs are unpredictable, incredably funny and not to difficult to play. Once you begin to play em you slowly get to love the lil suckers and will really get into the orcy spirit while gaming. Well thats what generally happons with me.
If you looking for tactics, i would use lots of boys and goblins (Especially night gobbos they are ace and can have fanatics) have a nice big unit of black orcs (but these dull the orcy spirit a bit, which is an advantage in battle). I like to use things like giants, because they look cool and are great fun (Stompy Stompy). Orc boar boys are a favorite because they hit hard. Wolf boys are very good because they are cheap, core fast cavalry.
Orc magic is poweful but dangerous (Both to the caster and the enermy). i like it is fun like the rest of the orc army.
Well thats my opinion on the funniest race in the old world!
A Promise to a dead man means nothing.
Soon I will have rounded my Empire army off at 1500pts and after a few weeks of furious painting they should be finished, and I'm thinking of leaving them till the summer SOC campaign.
I have, however, always wanted to start an Orc & Gobbos army. I was debating whether to start an all Goblin horde or a mix of both. I really like the army cos it looks fun to play and mixed with lots of fun and wackiness - a good change from the Empire.
So does anyone have any past experience, tips or help they can give me on starting them?
I'm debating how good (or in this case, funny) a very fast goblin horde would be. Ie wolf riders, chariots, squigs (greenskins should always have a unit) and so on. However I can't see how it would cause much damage (too much time playing elite armies I suppose). Also the lack of fanatics could spoil it.
any help on this would be greatly appreciated (and bare in mind you would be making a dwarf player turn to the green side).
thanks for any help
can someone tell me whether an army completely consisting of goblins wouold be effective ie completely swarming the opponent?
Why yes, yes it could. Go read the battle reports colonel Kraken made in the battlereports area. There around 3 of them i think, all massacres.
Goblins doesnt have bad troops. If you're charged by, say, a 5 knight wide unit. Then you can throw nets (if you have nets) and you are likely to actually win the combat. And with all the warmachines they have too. Cheap, and just dont take an orc bully so they'll fit in the theme.
I was thinking something like these guys said, a Gobbo horde, but with Trolls/Giants as well. Something along the lines of they like to follow the Gobbos around for the constant food source, the Gobbos are too small to drive them off entirely (and too numerous to care), and the monsters love the occasional fights the Gobbo's (unwittingly) lead them to. Lotsa Fanatics, big-arse squig herd, and multiple 50+ gobbo mobs, supported by wolf riders, giant(s) & trolls, and war machines (yay to all the machines being gobbo/snotling made/run). Any good?
50+ is too much IMO, rather a max of 35.
Trolls are great in combat, but think of this: How much LD will you get? Many a stupidity tests are to be failed. Never liked Giants, they're even easy to bring down with normal arrows! T5, 205 points, large target and no armour save is not good.
Bigass squigherds: Yess. Squigs rock, as we all know. I'm thinking of playing a game with 40 squigs, 20 herders, and just stay back with everything except the squig herd. I will charge it into something and break on purpose. 40 loose squigs everywhere in the enemies lines! Heh, fonn-ay.
Don't forget the wolf chariots. D6+1 S5 18" charge for 60 points is neat.
Goblin hordes work and are fun to play, ofcourse they are good. Put up a list so we can see it.
Will do, and thanks.
I gave up the monsterous creature idea, I think it'll do fine with just loads of goblins & their supporters.
