How do you suppose it would be if instead of using regular orcs, I used arrer boyzs instead. I usually use 3 to 4 big blocks of orcs in addition to everything else in my army. Do you suppose that if I made all of my orc boyz arrer boyz with full comand they would work out.
Given the fact that I just use a base orc anyhow, armor wouldn't change, and they still have choppas, so they can fight in combat. I don't see how this would be a bad idea. They'd be more versatile. And be able to stand and shoot. Any thoughts on the matter?
Note: This would be a fun list, not a tournament list. Although it could run as both if I so chose.
If you just want versatile models that you can run as either arrer boyz or orc boyz, then sure. Go for it.
If what you're saying is to run Orc arrer boyz as a central unit, then I say no. They pretty much suck as archers. You might as well get goblin archers since they're cheaper and wound something just about as often.
I wouldn't do it becasue Orcs aren't the best shooters. If you're using them like regular orcs then only the front rank (5 or 6?) of a unit will be able to shoot, and you've spent an extra point on each model to give them those bows. I think for the points cost a shield is a much better investment.
I also think that shoting doesn't fit the feel of orcs. They're supposed to get to the enemy and give them a taste of choppa, not hang around shooting bows.
But like I usually say, it's your army. If you want lots of arrer boyz then by all means get them.
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.
