Hey all! I am new to the Librarium and Warhammer in general. I am looking to play my first warband this weekend. It will also be my first actual game played. I am a HUGE fan of the Grimgor 'Ardboyz, but at 500pts, I can't see doing the whole thing. Here's what I am thinking. Critiques welcome. My play style - in theory - is straight ahead and devour anything in the way.
Black Orc Warboss - Great Axe - Heavy Armor
10x - Orc Boyz - Shields - Big Boss
10x - Orc Arrer Boyz
Orc Boar Chariot
10x - Black Orcs - Shields - Black Orc Boss - Musician - Standard
That's my band so far. I HATE goblins and really do not want to add them to my warband. Also, the Black Orcs are a must! Even if I have to cut a few, my warband must have a unit of Black Orcs. Are the musicians, standards, and big bosses necessary in a warband due to points cost, or should I definitely have them? Again, this is all theory, so I have no idea how this list will work. I will take some suggestions and play-test them at the local GW today or tomorrow. Thanx!
Standards, musicians and boss's are pretty much always worth it for any unit you expect to make it into combat although if you can't afford it points wise the standard is definitly the most usefull.
As for the list I would look to increase the size of the units. In a smaller size game you can get away with the smaller size black orc unit but the boyz unit really needs to be increased, at the expense of the arrer boyz if your short of points. After that I would give the Black Orc a shield so that way he can fight with choppa and shield, two choppas, or a great weapon giving you more flexibility.
