Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was wondering if there was any way to model/paint regular orc boyz as savage orcs.
I like the idea of a savage orc army but don't like how much it would cost money wise
If I was going to use savage orcs, I'm pretty certain I would convert them from orc boyz. I haven't really though about how I would do it too much, since I don't have any plans for any savage orcs as of yet, but it shouldn't be too hard, and shouldn't require all that much work. I would try to make them look more primitive, and so I would avoid the armoured bits on the sprues, and I would probably try to file the armoured parts of some of the torsos so I could use them all.
Some areas of cloth on the model could possibly be painted as flesh depending on how it might work on particular areas, as it would go with the primitive feel. I would try to paint/convert the weapons to look like stone or flint rather than metal, and make sure that they have a lot of highly visible warpaint. The warpaint should really help to distinguish them from regular boyz, and make them stand out as savage orcs even if you haven't done all that much conversion on them.
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

I came across this aswell, but managed to produce some quite cool looking models.
Here's what to do:
Firstly I bought a box of Orc Boyz and assembled with two hand weapons (Chuck Norris' retinue is composed of Savage Orc Big'Un's with two hand weapons, 'nuff said^^). With the left-overs I made some double bladed swords here and there, posed a few of them in a savagy sort of way by cutting a bit on they arms and such. I also positioned some of their heads so that it looks like they're tossing their heads back and crying "WAAAAGH!!!".
Then I just painted them as I would with any Orc Boyz, and then added war waint all over. It provides a quite convincing and, ofcourse, savage look!
You could ofcourse modify/improve this with some Green Stuff or parts from other sprues Try modelling hair with Green Stuff and pins, that'd look great!
Hope it helps!

And it's ARMY BOOK not Codex.
I agree with the first reply. savage Orcs wear no armour and their weapons are made of bone/flint. If you look, these weapons are small. AS well, according to the pictures (at
Warhammer - Orcs & Goblins), they appear smaller and skinnier.
hope this helps.
