1500pts versus Imperial Guard

Hey Everyone, Please critique my list. 1500 points against Imperial Guard. Most likely we will be playing annihilation/pitched battle since we haven't played much since 2nd edition and we're still learning the new rules.

I'm assuming opposing side will have 4-5 Leman Russ/variants since he just finished building a few. My plan is to try and take those out ASAP.

Shootas go with Mek in the Battlewagon. My elaborate strategy is charge tanks with Trukks/Warbikes, drive around shootin stuff with the boyz/Battlewagon. Lootas have never really faired me well, but I haven't abandoned them yet. I have never used a Looted Wagon, but I assume it will just sit back and shoot. Kans (which I'm on the fence about taking) are going to march/run up and hopefully have a tank as a target. Komandos will outflank and hopefully take out a command squad or heavy weapons unit.

how about.

3 battle wagons

one with ghazghull and mega nobz

and the other two have 20 orks with a power klaw nobz and big shootas

plus a squad of 5 nobz warbikers with a ork biker boss and give them a painboyz and cyborg bodies. should fit in very nicely . unless he has a alot of pie plates or anti-horde. he is toast ^^. and the nob bikers should scare him and get him to fire everything at you ( the nobz will survie for about 2 turns of shooting i think )

That's actually not a bad list overall. I'd drop the Looted Wagon for more Lootas, they just tear IG up. Give the Kans Grot Zookas, not only are they better against IG but they're more useful against other armies.

A Burna on that Mekk wouldn't hurt either, he can kill Termies and Marines with a Burna, don't think he's just a carrier for a KFF.

I like the list a lot, but have you thought of using Zugstruk and some storm boyz to really surround them? Having Snikrot coming from one side, a lot of boyz in transport and now Deep striking + charging from behind with a power klaw can be devestating for Guardsmen, forcing combat and leaving no where to run . Anyway thats just what I use against my mate who plays guards (and definitely upgrade those Killa Kans to have Grotzookas).

I definitly agree on storm boyz, taking out te looted wagon for more lootas, ad I've neve played with killa kans before, but I would take off those, but hey thats just me . . .

Zugstruk is a big gamble as he can scatter into a face full of Lasgun fire and kill off his own unit. I see them assaulting one unit than getting Rapid Fired down, if they can assault.

Besides, a strikes at I Klaw isn't all that useful against imperial guard. It's not like he's going to miss out on attacking with it and what he kills will for the most part not kill that many boyz if it had gotten to hit first.

Also, what size board do you normally play on and does he use Basilisks?

I would consider taking out the lootas. Lootas are great except against other shooting armies. One blast from a leman russ and half the squad is toast even if the lootas are in cover. Then ork leadership being what it is - bye, bye lootas. For the same points you can have a stipped down truck, nob iwth pk, and some boys to keep the nob alive.

Lootas are actually amazing against IG. Almost all our vehicles are AV12 front or on the sides and Lootas can dominate that all day. I can see them making their points back, even if they die and all they did was shake/stun some firepower for your Boys, worth it.

Definitly keep the lootas, they destroy. But make sure they are in a building or some sort of cover.
