1500 Pure Speed Freaks (no allies)

Enough with the allies! I want to try a good old fashioned speed freaks list, with some burnas in trukks thrown in for good measure...

    HQ

Warboss w/mega armor, bosspole, cybork [115]

    ELITE

    9 Burnas [135]

    6 Lootas [90]

    6 Lootas [90]

    TROOP

4 Mega Nobz w/2 combi-skorchas, battlewagon, deffrolla, grot riggers [285]

    12 Shoota boyz w/trukk, ram [112]

20 Shoota boyz w/'ard nob, powerklaw, bosspole [165]

    16 Grots w/runtherder [58]

    FAST

    6 Warbikes w/nob, powerklaw, bosspole [190]

    HEAVY

    Battlewagon w/deffrolla, grot riggers [115]

3 Big Gunz Kannons w/3 extra krew, 1 ammo runt [72]

3 Big Gunz Kannons w/3 extra krew, 1 ammo runt [72]

The burnas steal the shoota boyz's trukks, leaving the troops to set up camp on objectives, preferrably in terrain. The battlewagons move up (with the Meganobz and warbosses inside) with the bikes driving in front to give them cover, while the trukk rides up behind them.

While they're charging forward, the big gunz kannons and lootas fire away at the enemy, taking out infantry and transports (and if needed, flyers as well, using the S8 shot and the ammo runts to help get the 6's to hit).

OR, I could go back to bikers....

    HQ

    Warboss w/bike, bosspole, cybork [140]

    Warboss w/bike, bosspole, cybork [140]

    TROOP

    12 Grots w/runtherder [46]

    12 Grots w/runtherder [46]

6 Nob bikers w/painboy, cybork, 2 powerklaws, waaaugh banner, bosspole [400]

6 Nob bikers w/painboy, cybork, 2 powerklaws, waaaugh banner, bosspole [400]

    FAST

    4 Warbikes [100]

    4 Warbikes [100]

    HEAVY

    2 Big Gunz Kannons [40]

    2 Big Gunz Kannons [40]

    2 Big Gunz Kannons [40]

The Kannons harass transports and hopefully draw fire while the 4 squads of bikes (with the warbosses joining the regular bike units) race forward. The grots stay in reserve, and come out to claim objectives later on. If it that doesn't make sense for the mission, then they try and guard the kannons.

How's this one look? Better or worse than list 1?

Not my favourite... been rocking the 2 bw, nob biker + warbikes and kannons + lootas for longrange so far for my orks

The small units on home objectives always run for me, especially now cover is 5+, havent even tried them during 6th

I like the fluff but just don't reckon it can rock that much... still thinking on how to do a waz/warboss dual biker list with enough long range bite at this point level

No nob on the Boyz, but if they're sitting hoping not to get charged... And not going after armor.

5 bikers makes me uneasy, I'd like to know how they play.

I like the choice you're forcing on your opponent, shoot the burnas before they roast his troops or hope to take out the wagon of Meganobz before they get entrenched and ruin everything they touch... Each with its own warboss.

    Thanks for all the advice!

Looking back at the list, I don't think 2 bosses and units of meganobz is a good idea at this point level. I've cut it down to 1 unit, and I'm taking the second battlewagon as a heavy support choice, filled with 20 shoota boyz.

I dropped the second unit of burnas and their trukk as well. This gives me the points for some lootas, which will help with enemy vehicles. That will give me 4 shooty units to take out enemy transports, and harass infantry/flyers.

The warbikes indeed needed another body. They're to give the battlewagons cover (now possible, thanks to only needing to cover 25%), and harass/distract the enemy. In larger point games I'll probably make them nob bikers, but I just don't have the spare points here.

    Thanks again for the help!

Don't you normally advocate lootas in groups at st least 10?

I know this would probably change your tactics, but maybe try a Bikerboss instead of a Megaboss, run the bikers in cover and let them hammer the front of your wagons

Could you scrap the Trukk Boyz and take another unit of Grots and by a wagon for the burnas? They'd survive longer? I hate losing Big Gunz for wagons. It totally sucks.

It's a thought, but the meganobz need the bosspole. They're far too likely to run away without it. I could use nobz instead of mega nobz, but they're inferior without bikes.

What it might unfortunately come down to is that this sort of list might just be inferior to a biker/nob biker list.

I'm adding a biker alternative list up there

    EDIT

Oh, as for lootas, the game dynamic has changed a little bit, so smaller units of lootas are more forgivable. At any higher point level I'd bring them up to 9 though.
