    Eldar difficulties

I'm having some real trouble with my friend. He plays Ulthwe, and I just can't seem to beat him. His typical setup looks like this: He places the Avatar in the exact center of his lines, flanked on both sides by units of Black Defender Guardians. Then he puts a Wraithlord on each flank, sort of like rooks in chess. He has a Seer Council lurking just behind his lines, ready to mind war anything that comes near, and to top it off, he has a squad of Howling Banshees in a Wave Serpent hiding behind some terrain near by.

I play a KOS army, and nothing seems to work. I have tricked out Warboss, a unit of 'Ard Boyz, a unit of Truck Boyz, 5 warbikes + nob with PK, three rokkit Buggies, and a looted basilisk. My limited number of boys will smash into his force, but then will be quickly destroyed by an Avatar and Wraithlord tag team. I would like to try a bodyguard/Warboss banzai rush, but Mind War can kill my Warboss, even when he's stuck in. My looted Basilisk gets destroyed by a wratithlord, or missile toting Dark Reaper exarch, within the first few turns (there never seems to be enough terrain).

Ultimatly, it dosn't feel like I get out played, I just get the feel that Eldar are a broken army, and despite my best efforts, I'll always lose. What can I do?

Well it just seems like your being overwhelmed. As far as your list goes i say drop the tricked out warboss, seems like your going to have to outshoot him here because his real firepower is very short ranged it seems. I say try a Dakka Wagon (8 big shootas on a Battlewagon) to kill the Avatar and defender guardians. Get mabye 3 more rokkit buggies for wraithlord and wave serpant ownage. If you play shooty you can avoid his mindwar. For HQ take a Big Mek in a trukk with a KFF and a few meks with rokkits so u can drive around and tankbust (ammo runts as well) Mabye have 3 units of trukkboyz runnin around to mop up everything (seer council, howling banshees) Eldar aren't really broken, just easily exploitable, at least hes not using starcannons against a MA nob squad or something like that. Oh and forget the warbikes, theyll get shot to peices before they reach his lines. Hope this helps!

Actually the current eldar codex is broken, the units in it are either to good or too bad, in a few months this will no longer be a problem.
Also are you guys playing with 25% of scenery minimum.

As far as I know, we're using 25% scenery. My opponent always sets it up, but it seems fair enough to me. Next time we play, I'll set it up, with some decent cover in the deployment zone.

Also, am I right in believing that wraithlords are getting better in the new eldar codex?

They get some more options but it goes way up in price, it's no longer the cheap unit it was before.

I would say, run your Trukk Boyz and 'Ard Boyz up to his Defender squads. use your Squad of Bikes to tie up up one of the Wraithlords (preferably the one closest to your Trukk Boyz), Your Buggy squads should get up as close as possible to the Avatar, so you could block him from going anywhere for atleast a turn or two. Your Bassie should blast either the Wave Serpent, or the Seer Council.

Thats just what i would do in the situation, if i were you, switch out the Buggy Squad for either Guntrukks with Zapp guns, or a Battlewagon decked out with as much dakka as possible, and just center all fire on that Avatar.

The problem with that is that he has the Avatar join a squad of Guardians, who just don't seem to die, due to their re-rollable cover saves, and my poor shooting.

Take a couple of Skorcha buggies, bye bye better than 4+ cover save.

Why is this a problem? Arn't avatars monsterous? If so, even if they join gardians, you can still target them.... Seems to me like your opponent may be "creativly" interpreting the rules..... Admittedly, I haven't faced Eldar since 2nd Ed (or in EPIC) but they always seemed soft and squishy... new codex looks a tougher nut to crack than the 2nd Ed's though.('cept the 2nd Ed harlequins....they were broken....)
