Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've only played BFG twice both resulting in a devastating defeat making me realise that it just didn't work for me.
Anyway I'm currently converting a Mechanicus Necron army and looking for some BFG fighter models to represent scarabs swarms, so far I like the look of the Dreadclaw Assault Pods from Forge-World.
But the problem is none of the images of the fighter models are very revealing on the model's size or how they are based, so I'd like to ask you BFG players for more info on the fighter models?
Rather than ask this question in the 'modelling' section where many people wouldn't have a clue.
I would go with an Escort, rather than the fighters. A BFG fighter model is just about the size of an Epic scale space marine. Escorts are roughly .75-1 inch long. If you want something paintable, I'd go with that. However, it's going to be pricey taking that route. You only get 2 or 3 metal escorts in a pack for about $15.
Thats okay, I'm going for the small swarm look anyway like the scarabs in Dawn Of War
What is a mechanicus Necron army and what are scarab swarms in BFG? Necrons do not emply ordnance.
